It’s so cozy and nice. It’s not affiliated with SXSW. They do their own thing and it rules. No corporate bullshit. No hordes of photographers. No VIPs. Just rock ‘n’ roll.
That’s Quintron and Miss Pussycat. Made me want to shake it even more than Little Dragon did, and with way more primitive technology.
After rousing sets by Limes and Harlan T. Bobo at the Goner Records showcase, I left Beerland to go catch the Black Lips and Little Dragon at the Dickies party. But I knew I wanted to return for Quintron and Miss Pussycat a couple hours later. And I knew my stamp wouldn’t live that long.
So I snapped a pic. And it was honored! By Beerland! The club that so famously doesn’t care about your shitty blog or anything.
Beerland rules!
Lots of elbows in the pit! It was a decent-sized pit, and at least a few people in the crowd seemed to be familiar with the band. Saw Aziz Ansari next to me doing the pogo.
Black Lip Cole took his penis out at the end.
That’s a Motorola Xoom Tablet. Looks a little bit goofy, right? A goofy tableau, right?
How about this:
Every single one of them filmed the entire set.
The Streets on Fire are the band. They were pretty good.
And it was good. Dig that stage presence. And that kid’s sweet Milo tattoo. And that other kid’s vintage Lookout Records tee:
Dirty Beaches, ladies and gentlemen!
