Day drinking just got real

As of February first, Scottish Spirits Imports (A Fort Lauderdale company, of course) plans to bring this appetizing alcoholic treat to a janky liquor store near you. From their website:

Is there any better sound than the crack of a beer can being opened after a long day of work? What if the can was filled with something a little stronger than beer, say Scotch whisky?

Our “Scotch in a Can” has eight shots (12 ounces) of Scotch straight out of the can − which is indeed a recyclable one. Keeping qualitative and quantitative standards intact, Scotch in a Can maintains high quality without compromising the tone of the beverage.

Retailing for $5, this thrifty, convenient and pool-safe beverage option is sure to be a hit. Enjoy!

Greetings from San Bruno and Felton!

Has anyone else ever jumped on the 8x at 6th and Harrison thinking it was like, a 9 or something? I’ve done it twice now, once four years ago and another time yesterday. It immediately starts changing lanes, and then your heart sinks as you realize it’s getting on the freeway. In the end, I made it to my destination (Dear Mom) in about 45 minutes, so it wasn’t too bad. But you can imagine how powerless I felt.

Also, the bus driver laughed at me.

Holiday hearts for the Mission

If someone throws hearts up on the phone lines in your neighborhood it means there’s a drug dealer with a crush nearby.

Foxtails Brigade video goes totally viral

Local chamber-pop (a thing) band Foxtails Brigade posted this totally precious xmas-themed music video a couple days ago and it already has 12,000 views! Check out these mopey San Franciscans if you’re into stuff that’s totally cute.

Ask an expert: the split-leg pinball stance

After noticing this Bender’s patron’s intense focus and agressive stance, we conducted a short interview to learn more about this bit of pinball tachnique that we all intuit but we never really think too hard about.  Watch:

Breaking: house on shirt

My buddy Joan, who recently returned after a stint in L.A., immediately got to work putting her new apartment building on a shirt. I don’t remember exactly where it is, but if you recognize it you can stalk her, although she lives with her boyfriend and he’s a pretty big dude, so be careful out there guys. Otherwise just buy the shirt!

Dollar oyster-eating San Franciscans don’t know how good they have it

Last week San Francisco’s first and only ham and oyster bar announces dollar oysters, all day, five days a week, one of which is Sunday, until January 1, and I don’t hear about it until now? San Franciscans may not know that dollar oysters are not a universal phenomenon. In LA, where I am writing this, the concept doesn’t exist. When you google “dollar oysters” you just get a bunch of Yelp threads where someone asks “Where do you get dollar oysters in LA?” and someone responds, “I dunno, but a bunch of places in SF do it.”

So spread the word, people. Personally, I’m driving up Wednesday morning for Thanksgiving, so if anyone wants to meet me at Hog & Rocks around 2, I’ll be there.

Thanks to GGRA for the tip.

If you’re going to order it even though you don’t like it, you might as well know what it is.  Camper English has the answer.

Dalva’s Hideout features Juniperio gin

So glad to see the Hideout supporting our premiere local distillery, which named it’s flagship gin after famous settler and inventor of the Mission, Juniperio Sierria.
