Dude riding a Segway down Valencia blasting "Area Codes" from a boom box, you have given me mixed feelings

Multiple weeks in a row now. I mean, it must be fun to not care about parking tickets, but the other consequence is my gutter doesn’t get swept
It’s no secret that we at Mission Mission love LCD Soundsystem more than almost anything. And also, February 14th, in addition to being Valentine’s Day, is also the anniversary of our first ever post (!), so we are very excited about this party and will be partying HARD:
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ It’s Valentine’s Day! And what better way to spend it than with LCD SOUNDSYSTEM??? (Sort of) ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ Here’s the lineup:
• NORTH AMERICAN SCUM performing the songs of LCD Soundsystem
• CANDY’S CRUSH performing a bunch of other songs
• DJ WESLEY FRAZEE spinning danceable jams all night long
Plus we’ll have Berlin-style ping pong, romantic lighting, romantic drinks, romantic vibes, possibly a photo booth of some kind, and more! Bring your boo, look sharp, and let’s party like LCD Soundsystem still existed!!!
$10 in advance, $15 at the door; 21+. (Our last party with North American Scum was sold out by 9pm, so don’t dilly dally!)
Also, Candy’s Crush frontwoman Candy Winters was named “Best Rapper in the Mission” back in 2011!
From the Fayes blog:
I was an extra on the set of The Master. If you’ve see the show Extras or done extra work or known someone who has, then you already know that extra work is not glamorous, it is depressing and is never a career move for aspiring actors or filmmakers, and it’s rarely fun. I was almost gone, moving away for what I thought would be forever, and had no interest in the gig. Also, I had no transportation and the shoot was up north. When you get a call for one of these gigs you have to ask what the film is about and who is making it. Out of curiosity I asked. When I was told that it was P.T. Anderson’s new film, staring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Laura Dern, Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams and that I had been selected for my “classic look,” the compliment went to my head and I became full of fantastic ideas about my all but sure discovery by my favorite American director as his protégé.
Whenever I see a cool car around the neighborhood, I take pictures and send them to my pal Eric up in Portland who runs Other People’s Things, my favorite car blog. He responds with some knowledge and we post the results here and it’s called “Car Beat.” Here’s what Eric has to say about this oddity:
Wow.
What can I say? It’s not exactly ugly, but it isn’t pretty either. Definetly a custom job, but I couldn’t find any info on the kit or manufacturer (though this guy in Arkansas has a similar kit)
I’d say it’s a good impression of a (most likely) American built custom kit on a German car imitating a pre-war British coupe, which at the time were imitating their bigger American cousins.
Thanks, Eric!
They call it firewater, but I think the aging process mellows it out a lot because I found this stuff to be very smooth indeed. We did shots to cap off a very nice homemade dinner, and it made for a lovely dessert. I’d drink it all the time if I could.
Cheap Time rules! They used to tour with Jay Reatard and they’re responsible for a couple of the best live shows I’ve ever seen in my life and they’re headlining the Knockout tonight! Also, they wrote the best song ever:
