Thieves break into car, steal loose change and beloved cute dog

More info:

Please help us find our BELOVED Yorkie, Winnie. Our car was broken into today and she was stolen along with loose change. We’re guessing they think she is a valuable puppy but she is 12 years old and needs special care. I have had her for all 12 years, took her everywhere with me and my heart is absolutely breaking. PLEASE PLEASE be on the look out. She’s tan and silver and black, 4lbs and still looks like a puppy. Stolen from 26th St. and Valencia in the Mission District. Please call with any information. REWARD!

(Thanks, Stu.)

Drink of the Week: Newfangled variation on classic SF drink the Bottom of the Bay

If you haven’t had a Bottom of the Bay, check out the Bottom of the Bay.

This week’s Drink of the Week is a variation, which we tried last night for the first time. Instead of the draft Drake’s Imperial Stout, we used the new Narwhal Imperial Stout from Sierra Nevada. And instead of Fernet Branca, we used Fernet Lazzaroni (purchased over the weekend at Royal Cuckoo Market, along with some Swedish Punsch.) And instead of dropping a shot of the Fernet into the stout, we just poured a little in.

It was pretty damn good. Especially now that winter’s here ;)

Now let’s rock:

Sexy Jesus, making out, no bullshit

This weekend’s edition of “I’ll Leave You with This” at the Cynic Cave sounds even more special than usual:

Comics will cut out most of their bullshit act and leave you with the joke/jokes they keep closest to their hearts- their closers. Jam packed with their own personal favorites, old faithfuls and maybe even some new tricks, I’ll Leave You With This will teach these comics their ABCs- ALWAYS. BE. CLOSING.

This month we get to welcome some rad out of towners, some Bay Area heavy hitters, a musical duo and even sexy jesus! (and David Gborie and Jane Harrison will make out for your viewing pleasure. Why? YOU’LL HAVE TO COME TO FIND OUT!)

Eagle Donuts to close forever on Monday

Speaking of donuts… Bernalwood delivers some sad news:

It’s no one’s fault; Change is the only constant. Eagle Donuts opened in 1994, and Sherry from behind the counter — that’s Sherry, above — told Bernalwood she’s been here the entire time. She said rising rents weren’t so much of an issue. She said donuts just aren’t a very lucrative product these days, and costs keep going up. Milk prices, sugar prices, the minimum wage… all going up. Basically, Sherry said, after 20 years, it’s time to move on.

So on Monday, Eagle Donuts will close forever.

Stop in this weekend to get a final taste, and wish Sherry all the best.

Donuts for the Giants

Whoa, did you think I was talking about these bad boys again? Nope.

Mission burritos in a mall in Bangkok

Capp Street Crap reports:

On a quest for a burrito on my last full day in Bangkok, I found a scene almost worthy of a Twilight Zone episode: a food court Mission taqueria. Yes, that’s a taco truck and a mini Mission District in the belly of the fanciest mall I’ve ever been to. They’ve even got a Michelada on the menu.

The burrito looks pretty good:

SPCA is at cat-pacity! Free kittens for all!

According to their Twitter, SPCA’s cat shelter is positively overflowing with felines, so they’re waiving all cat and kitten adoption fees through Sunday! If you didn’t already know, cats are the best! Here are some reasons why:

  • They’re cute!
  • They’re warm! (Winter is coming.)
  • They’re really soft!
  • They have those funny pointy ears!
  • They do the darndest things!
  • They eat bugs and stuff!
  • They reduce anxiety!
  • They’re good at computers and technology!
  • They’re easier to take care of than plants!

Also, adopting a kitten was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made — I mean, just look at her! Don’t you want one too?
