The evite says the event is being hosted by Oliver & Sabec, an arts and entertainment law group.

Maverick's Southern Fried Night Returns!

Om nom nom and so on.  Time to go to Maverick (17th/Mission)!

Eater SF alerts us to the return of Southern Fried Night next Wednesday, September 30th:

More of a special night than a deal: the annual Southern Fried Night, wherein the menu includes items like Fried Green Tomatoes, Fried Frog Legs, Fried Alligator Balls and Fried Chorizo Pie, among others. Reservations will go quickly.

I’m really into this place.  My bf and I even purchased the restaurant’s first for-sale bottle of Youk’s Hot Sauce, before they’d printed up the labels.  No biggie, okay?

Go reserve now if you have yet to do so!  OpenTable‘s doing that thing where it suggests totally bummer dining times  already.

God Damned By GIRLS

San Francisco band Girls was on the front page of Pitchfork again this morning (sorry dudes, I read Pitchfork), which led me to spend the last hour at work watching Girls music videos.  Oops!

Unsurprisingly, most of them feature SF scenery.  Here’s one I came across today that I hadn’t seen before – starring Dolores Park:

Not my favorite song (“Lust for Life” is!), but still not bad.

These dudes are getting crazy famous, so see them at the Swedish American Hall on November 20th or Bottom of the Hill on November 21st before they start playing bigger venues.  Awesome.

Who Wants to Host a Neighborhood Windows 7 Launch Party?

Sorry, everyone, I realize this is unrelated to the Mission.

Or is it?!

If anyone wants to throw a Microsoft house party, call me up.

Love Grows on the 22 Fillmore

You guys!  I love love,  Muni, and Missed Connections, which is why I so thoroughly enjoyed this post on Muni Diaries, as well as it’s accompanying photo:

Romance on public transit!  From Flickr user jenmaiser.

Alexander Crane’s missed connection occurred a few months ago; I’m curious to hear whether the babe with the feather earrings ever got in touch.   Alexander or feather babe: write in!

And lastly: Muni Diaries asks for Muni missed  connections and thus, I will follow suit and request that you send Mission Mission your Mission missed connections.  Send love notes to: missionmissionmission at gmail dot com.

Seriously, I’ll get you a girlfriend with bangs and pretty eyes in no time.

Shit Gets Crazy on 16th Street

Real rat, stuffed rat, 40 oz. of the champagne of beers, fifth element, ninth gate, 16th street…

The list goes on, courtesy my roommate’s iPhone.  Ask me how!

Abbrev Party: DoPa!

Zomg!  The things you learn trendspotting on Twitter (no big deal)!

I assume I’m behind on this one, don’t judge:

dopa

Call me crazy stupid or whatevs, but I never realized Dolores Park was dorth of the Panhandle.  Hmm.

Mission Police to Hold Community Meeting Tonight

Following Friday’s shootings:

The captain of San Francisco’s Mission District police station will hold a meeting with residents tonight to discuss police efforts to stem gang-related violence, which left three men dead over the weekend.

Police are still trying to figure out what triggered the initial hostilities, but the conflict is believed to be between separate factions of Nortenos, police spokeswoman Sgt. Lyn Tomioka said.

Word.  The meeting will be held tonight at Mission Educational Projects, Inc. at 6 p.m., and will be hosted by Mission Station police Captain Stephen Tacchini.

Address is 3049 24th St. at Treat, if you’d like to attend.
