Rumormonger: Harassed Skater Bois Spotted With a Real Photographer

From Mission Mistaken:

On my way home today, I swear to god I saw our skater boys from the ‘SFPD arrest of skater punks’ video from a few days back.

North of the Market St. Safeway, a few blocks off of Duboce Park.

If I’m not mistaken, they were about to be photographed by what appeared to be a REAL photographer.

If anyone has the inside scoop, I’m sure my fellow (long suffering) MM readers would love to get the skinny.

I’m too lazy to do any real research on this*, but I’d put my bets on the Chronicle doing a followup story in which they don’t credit us with breaking the story.  Either that or TLC was shooting the promotional photos for the upcoming reality show, A Day In The Life of Some Skaters Kinda Made Famous By a Minor Local News Controversy.

Drag Racing Crash

UPDATE: Hot damn.  I just checked out the scene and it was pretty crazy.  The guy even took down a TREE.  (Click to enlarge any picture)

I love the fact that a drag racer has an American Flag pinwheel on his antenna. Major win.

So much for racing for slips.

Unfortunately I was slow on the camera draw, but that does not detract from the fact that there was a dude pushing a big stuffed llama on a skateboard down Capp St.

Half-Naked Girl in Wheelchair Descends Dolores Park Hill

Overheard in Dolores Park on Friday night: “Hey did you see that half-naked girl going down the hill in a wheelchair?”

No I did not, and does anyone have any video?

The Chili Bowl Was More Awesome Than I Ever Could Have Imagined

Jon Bauer photographing the Chili BowlPhoto by Jon Bauer

The Chili Bowl was an incredible way to squander away a Saturday afternoon: water balloons full of beer, a blood geyser coming out of a guy’s head, filthy jokes from the announcers, a punk band playing awesome songs like “you are dead, motherfucker” and “crack on Mission St.” within a few dozen yards of a playground full of children, and, of course, skateboarding.  This is definitely my kind of place.

If anyone doubted Allan’s recommendation of the park, you need to check Potrero del Sol out.  It is like Dolores Park, only it’s not full of trash, dead grass, cops, it doesn’t smell like urine, and there is actually interesting shit going on.  It even has its own miniature hipster hill, affectionately known as “lurker hill” by the announcers, where one can flaunt their keen sense of retro bicycle-parts aesthetic and complete apathy towards skateboarding while unfettering, drinking  and carousing.

Anyways, I shot some SICK phone-video of the competition.  Sadly, my camera does not have a fisheye lens and I still know nothing about making skateboarding videos.  Bon appetit.

Oakland Invading Dolores Park Bike Polo

Tonight at 7pm is another edition of bike polo in Dolores Park with Oakland facing off with SF.  While this isn’t necessary news, I’m loving the bile/shit-talking coming out of the Oaktown Society of Recreation’s email list:

For those unfamiliar with public transit systems, the “BART” snake-carriage machine will drop you off at 16th and mission, and when you exit the underground passenger depository station tell a friendly san francisco-an “yo… im from Oaklan how da fuck i get to DOUGH-LORE-EHS park?” while making menacing body movements that invade their personal space. and dont worry – they’ll be more afraid of you than you are of them, the same way the sf whackers fear us on the courts of polo, ‘cuz we insane.

Life-Size Pinewood Derby in Dolores Park

This is nowhere near as good as the impossibly epic Skateboarding in Dolores Park, but it’s an okay watch if you’re bored at work right now:
