Got a message from Commissioner Boris himself yesterday:
The festivities start at 7pm. Bubble Hockey League for more info.
Apparently their restaurant’s proximity to the skatepark under the freeway inspired the Rice Paper Scissors crew (and their designer pal Laura Helen Winn) to cook up their very own skateboard.
It’s called the Chinatown Skateboard, they’re available for sale via that there link – and there’s also a zine about it.
Now please enjoy this list of old posts relating to the skatepark under the freeway…
I was at Hockey Haven yesterday afternoon and saw these two photos on the wall, framed:
One had a little inscription identifying Nate Hubbard, Sweetwater Oak, Golden Gate Fields, the year 1989, and the fact that they took second place thanks to Hubbard’s tenacity…
Checkitout I found a video:
Drinking in bars while playing miniaturized versions of your favorite sports is definitely one of my favorite things about being alive. For soccer fans, foosball. For tennis fans, ping pong. And for hockey fans, BUBBLE HOCKEY!
And for bubble hockey aficionados in SF, there’s the Bubble Hockey League, which has been on hiatus for a year or so now, but is coming back strong starting a week from today — and it’s in the Mission this time!
Here’s the official “about” blurb:
The Bubble Hockey League, BHL, is a competitive league of Bubble Hockey players who compete in weekly matches over the course of a season. Statistics are computed throughout the season to determine standings. Championships are played at the conclusion of the season to determine the best teams in the league. Join the league and get in the bubble.
Use the sign-up sheet to sign up. Follow Commissioner Boris on Facebook more info.
I mean this is the problem with film photography right? You don’t get the stuff developed and it doesn’t end up on your Tumblr til like 2 months after the fact. Great shots though, by (sometimes) local photographer genkai_trip.
