Serra Bowl looks to reopen, possibly in a former Delano’s Market in the Richmond

SFist reports:

[A] representative of the now-shuttered bowling alley was spotted checking out the space left vacant by a Delano’s Market at 27th and Geary. Adding some legitimacy to the rumors that Serra Bowl could eventually re-open out in the avenues, the alley’s owners recently posted on their Facebook page, asking for help scouting out spaces large enough to house a bowling alley. Meanwhile our former Delano’s is going to be a dumb Fresh & Easy or something?? Tragic!!

Sunday night Giant Jenga party

Giant Jenga. I was gonna try and write a little more about this, but what more do you need to know? Giant Jenga.

Another bowling option in the Mission!

Rock Bar’s bar manager Brion just emailed us some good news:

Ketchup and ranch dressing bottles duke it out on the Dolores Park playground

Reader Beth sent in this delightful video of my two favorite fried potato dipping condiments settling the score on the Dolores Park playground today. Never has there been a more exciting food war!

The closeup on the ranch bottle at the end of the clip reveals that it’s probably part of Hidden Valley Ranch’s quest to become the “new ketchup,” but whatever, this totally made my day. In fact, I think I’m going to head over to Bender’s right now and eat some tots with ketchup and ranch dressing.

Flaming soccer ball fun, now on video

We mentioned it and published a pic the other day, but now you can watch a whole video about this new extreme sport. I wonder which team gets disqualified if the ball rolls under a car’s gas tank and a whole city block explodes into flame.

View the video here.

Fun with a flaming soccer ball

Those guys are gonna be in serious need of some tough-actin’ Tinactin:

Go climb a tree

It’s great news that the Valencia swing is back in action, but it seems the lines to swing on it are already Bi-Rite Creamery-long, forcing determined fun-lovers to make their own improvised tree-related good times elsewhere on Valencia Street.

Hip hop and ping pong, together at last!

This Friday On May 26th, American Tripps returns to the Secret Alley will take place at a location to be announced soon for an evening of hip hop and ping pong, with very special guest DJ Laser Tad on the decks. It’ll be like when the Wu Tang Clan combined chess and boxing! From the official invite:

It’s gonna be chill ’90s hip hop, upbeat, feel-good jams sure to go hand-in-hand with BERLIN-STYLE PING PONG ACTION. (Think De La Soul or “Feel Me Flow,” nahmean?)

Sounds good! RSVP and invite your friends!

Saturday night bouncy boxing (and free beer) at Z Space

It’s like SXSW up in this piece lately — free beer everywhere! Free beer tonight at ping pong, free beer at this thing, etc.

Anyway, this thing, a launch party for a new app called UpOut (not uPout, though I bet if you get slammed in the face by a bouncy boxing glove hard enough, uPout). Broke-Ass Stuart will be there, boxing and playing host or something. Free beer by Pabst. Free gourmet hot dogs. And then there’s a egg hunt and a bouncy castle in which bouncy boxing will take place. And it’s all in the trippy old factory space that is Z Space. And it’s free! Saturday night! You must RSVP here!

Stuart has all the details and some jokes about Coachella here.

Saturday Afternoon Ping Pong, tomorrow and every Saturday at Dear Mom

Every Saturday. Regular ol’ ping pong. Last week, we played games to 21. If it gets crowded, maybe we’ll switch to 11. Win by two, no suckers’ serve.

Bangin’ bloody marys by bartender David. Bangin’ wake-up shots by Oliver. Hot dogs for lunch.

P.S. Don’t forget, American Tripps brings the other style of ping pong to Rickshaw Stop tonight!
