This is what happens when the Giants win the NLCS pennant

Go Giants!

Hip hop and ping pong, together at last (again)

American Tripps is finally back from its big west coast tour, and what better homecoming than a sequel to the wildly successful “Hip Hop & Ping Pong” party from last May? Here’s the deal:

Our first HIP HOP & PING PONG event, back in May, was such a smash, we felt obliged to do it again quick. We got DJ LASER TAD once again, and he promises chill ’90s hip hop (and maybe a few surprises) once again.

As always at Rickshaw Stop, there’ll be foosball and skeeball (and great views of the ping pong action) upstairs, and plenty of rickshaws to snuggle in.

Sounds good! RSVP and invite your friends!

Hot new look for October: Embracing your inner Lincecum

20121005-090852.jpg

Well, it’s going to be quite the shitshow this weekend what with Fleet Week (where you learn what it’s like to live in Afghanistan with American warplanes thundering above you while you try to live, work, and poop); Hardly Strictly (no need to worry about lines or tickets–just ride your bike to the park and lock it to a tree); America’s Cup (as if Larry Ellison hasn’t already demonstrated to everyone how big his dick is by blocking traffic and making everyone late for work downtown with Oracle World); and of course, last but not least, your own San Francisco Giants attempting to recapture the magic from two seasons ago (but hopefully not the riots).

Remember how rad that was? Everyone was so nice to each other and you could defuse an argument in a second with just a timely “Go Giants!” comment. Maybe we should try to be like that all the time?  I suppose I’ll simply settle for not trying to set any MUNI buses on fire.

SF Berlin-Style Ping Pong League now accepting signups for fall season (and also there’s a pre-season ping pong party tonight)

The league just put up a tasty new website where you can register for the fall season, plus there’s an event tonight at Dear Mom:

Okay, everybody. The fall season begins on October 8th (and goes six weeks) and if you register by the end of September, you get early-bird pricing on league dues! Just $50 per person (or $200 per team) for the full six-week fall season! (You can have more than four players on your team’s roster if you’d like to be able to sub out some weeks.) Register (and get more info) here: http://sfberlinstyle.com/

OR… come to Dear Mom tonight and register in person (we’ll have a credit card swiper on hand) and stick around for a few hours of Berlin-style ping pong action!

(You can come play tonight even if you’re not gonna register for the league, but it might cost $5.)

Berlin-style ping pong tonight in the Lower Haight

I figured this would be of interest since it’s apparently the only Berlin-style ping pong party happening this month. Plus, the Lower Haight is my second favorite neighborhood, and the home of the best burrito in town. (AND, one of the poster models is Vic Wong, who as of one post ago is tied with Andrew Sarkarati for most prolific Mission Mission writer ever, other than me.)

Also, the musical program this time seems pretty interesting:

Psmzntl, DJ Fgsfds and DJ Jerky Joerg will be manning the decks, and here’s what they promise: “Looks like an eclectic set and we’ll tag team it to hop genres and decades. Maybe no country. Tunes, songs, nuggets, slop.” YUSSS!!!!

Not quite as sick a move as the last Muni acrobat, but not bad.

If you like Berlin-style ping pong, perhaps you should join the San Francisco Berlin-Style Ping Pong League

The inaugural season doesn’t start until fall, but there’s a pre-season game tonight! (And it’s at Dear Mom, so arrive early so you can try out the new dinner menu.)
