Or, I guess this could be 4:45pm what with how early it’s getting dark lately
P.S. If you like this, Carina has some work in a show this Friday.
Every week, photographer Joshua Cobos shoots a roll of film just for us. He picks the best 13 photos and we post them here, and it’s called “Bad Blood with Joshua Cobos.” Here’s what Joshua has to say about this batch:
I use AGFA black and white film for special occasions, a film they stopped producing right about the time I graduated high school. Back then I was working in an Orange County photo lab that was full of AGFA films, now i’m down to my last 12 rolls. Analogue photography requires time, experimentation, patience, constant self critique and the willingness to refine and question your technique.

I’ve been taking photographs of Fancy for the past 4, 4 1/2 years. I’ve seen many transformations, lots of different stage names & hair colors take place in these 4 short years. The lady has only become more self assured, dynamic & vivacious as time has gone on, this is the last photograph I took of her before she left to London.
Thanks, Joshua!

So much has happened since the last bad blood. I left my minimum wage day job to pursue freelance work, I lost a great friend to fate or something vague like that, consequently I have been listening to just about every album in the 4AD catalogue. Here’s a series of Vera again.

Over the past year, Polaroid SF has shot 366 photos of San Francisco taken through the lenses of vintage Polaroid Land cameras, and 50 of them are of the Mission (and at least one of them was inspired by one of our blog posts). This month, they’re bringing their project to the walls of Photobooth on Valencia. The show will be up until the 29th, and there will be an opening reception a week from tomorrow on October 19th, 7-10pm.
Local photographer and party animal Jason Yim captured a whole mess of fun on the playground, and shared it this morning in a series called #yoloindolo. These are just a couple of good ones; do click through and enjoy the rest.

When I walk around shooting street photos I’m usually looking for shadows & lines, hardly ever people. The shots I find people in are more intimate, people close to me, places with strong memories. Our show at Cafe Du Nord, Boo sitting on the bed watching me, Margot with candy lips at the diner. I recommend getting glossy prints too.

Golden Gate Park is a place i keep coming back to, I worked there for a little over a year when I first moved to the city. A hellish job but through adversity comes growth and maturity. This young model, Vera, is just starting out as a professional but as you can see is on her way to a very promising career.
