Yeah, it’s a cat. He’s cute and partially blind and very dependent on his brother, from whom he’s been separated, by thieves. Keep your eyes peeled.
Full press release after the jump:
Today BART passengers were busy checking out these young pigeons napping in the 24th St. Mission station. While the picture does not do them complete justice, these rats birds were small and were not bothered by people getting close to them.
I was pretty interested as to why I had never seen young pigeons ever before. Apparently adult pigeons feed their babies until they are nearly adult size, so they rarely leave the nest prior to becoming full size.
In spite of the fact this video was upload by KQED 8 months ago and is not Mission-related, I am posting it anyways. Besides, is it really a stretch to think about how awesome it would have been to be mauled by a 13-foot tall bear running 40 miles-per-hour while you were riding a camel to get a burrito? Yeah, I didn’t think so.
Go watch KQED QUEST: Ice Age Bay Area. Your boss won’t mind; it was 12 minutes you were not going to spend working anyways.
It looks like there is another “Swoops” on 800 block of Capp St. That’s right, some aggro Brewer’s Blackbird has moved into the neighborhood. While I could not find its nest, it sure seemed interested in warding off “gentrification” as I walked by.
Does anyone think CNN will come out and film on Capp St.? Yeah, probably not.
Reader Megan, in the comments, turned me onto a great MUNI blog, The Deuce Deuce. While quickly browsing through the archives, I came across this serious-looking cat:
I got on the 22 Fillmore. I’ve lived around the corner from it for 20 years. You never know what you’re gonna find.
I see this woman sitting there with a CAT in PUBLIC, on the BUS, dressed in a kitty-sized SOMBRERO with the word “Mexico” embroidered on it and looking completely serious like there was nothing wrong with any of it. — Lisa Geduldig
From Shotwell’s Bar Twitter:
Unfortunately the dog wasn’t actually playing pool, but we’ll take it.
