I'll Play Fetch All Night If You Want

Good afternoon, good people of San Francisco. Allow yourself to at least consider adopting a pet this weekend.

Dinah –  5 year old female black Labrador

Ready for adventure and fun? I am a high energy labby gal who loves my tennis ball!! I mean…seriously loves. That thing is my best pal. I’ll play fetch with you all day to help burn off some of my energy. Heck – I’ll play fetch all night if you want! I’m looking for a family with previous energetic dog experience – gotta keep up! Hikes, swims, walks and backyard time – think of the amazing summer we’ll have!

Little Bit — 1 year old female shorthair

Little Bit is a darling girl with a sweet little purr to melt your heart. She seems to be curious about other cats here at the shelter, and might be a great fit for a home looking to welcome another feline. Soft and gentle, this dainty lady is sure to warm your heart as soon as she hops up in your lap for a snuggle.

All pets adopted from SFSPCA have received a pre-adoption veterinary exam and behavior assessment, vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery and a microchip.

Back In My Day, Cat Videos Were Really Something

Every generation acts like they invented hilarious cat videos. Newsflash: cats and videos have been around for decades! To prove this point, next Saturday May 29th, Oddball Films is showing their picks from two years of screenings, including this gem, which would almost certainly result in a lawsuit today:

The Cat Who Drank and Used Too Much (1988) A wacky anti-drug film about the effects of alcohol and drug on the most purrrfect test subject, a cat. That darn cat!

More info after the jump.

P.S. What’s your favorite cat video? I’ve seen ‘em all, and I keep going back to this one.

RIP Ripley

Alien?
Word has come down, riding upon the mystical winds of the corridor of the great Valencia that Ripley, the hairless wonder that sat in the window or on the counter of Borderlands Books, has perished.

Seriously, we wish the owners the best, that was one amazing feline.

UPDATE: So, I’m no reporter, that much is clear. Claud informs me in the comments that my picture is of Ash, who is, thankfully, alive and well. Ripley is seen below in a picture from the Borderlands website. Thanks to Claud, and sorry to all our readers.

Read an announcement from the owners and share your thoughts here.

(thanks, laurie bk)

Cat Romance

The SPCA apparently really wants you to adopt some cats. I wonder why.

An Adorable Little Lady and a Big Studly Dude

An Adorable Little Lady and a Big Studly Dude

Happy Friday, readership of ours! Adopt a pet today or this weekend if you so desire!

Sugar — 2 year old female Chihuahua

This adorable little lady was brought in by her previous home because they were struggling with their own medical issues. Soon after arriving here, we discovered that Sugar has some allergies, which seemed to have caused some hair loss previously. Our veterinary team and her foster moms have been smothering her in extra TLC and she’s looking ship-shape with the attention and special diet.
Ms. Sugar is a gentle, sweet and a perfect companion. She’s enjoying daily romps on the beach with the other pups in her foster home, and snuggles nightly with the kitties. She’d love to settle into a home with daily walks, warm blankets to burrow under, and lots of love and affection.

Drulie — 1 year old male shorthair

Drulie is a big studly dude with a passion for affection and attention. He loves to be pet and sometimes drools when he’s excited by the love he’s getting…adorable, no? This beefy kitty would do best as an only cat – he’s not ready to share the love. If you’ve been searching for a companion to share your space, and hang out on those lazy summer days – this is your guy!

Dude Missing Again?

Vigilant reader Nobby Stylz alerts us to this sign offering a reward for the safe return of a parrot named Dude who whistles the theme to the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. But wait! Since the last time Dude went missing, apparently he’s learned to bark!

Either that or this is just a really old flyer.
