It is possible this was Photoshopped.
SFist has details on how to help victims of the fire (as well as photos of the fire’s aftermath) here.

UPDATE: This is not a joke about a tragedy; this is a joke about the internet. If you’re outraged (or if you’re not), please channel your energy toward helping victims of the fire via the link above.
Reader Geoff G. submitted these photos via our Facebook wall. He explains:
My co-worker noticed a streak in the sky heading towards the ground. Then the fire.
Holy moly. SFist is covering the fire, but so far there’s no official word on the cause:
12:39: All streets in the immediate area are closed. The public is being asked to stay away from the Western Addition/NOPA/Alamo Square area for now.
12:40: A fifth alarm has now been called. This fire is completely out of control. Building is being described as “very old” by Captain Denis O’Leary. A Shelter-in-place has been declared.

Photographer Sweet T says:
Occupy banners above Mission Creek Café on Valencia. Also, can you spot the local Mission celebrity?
Can ya?
The 7th Touchstone Bouldering Series arrives at Mission Cliffs tonight from 5-11pm (as in, it just started!) Participation gets you free pizza, free beer, and a free T-shirt (pictured above).
Also, this just in from the Mission Cliffs Facebook page:
Attention Mission Cliffs, members and gusts: As you may have heard, we are pleased, proud, and absolutely pumped to announce that after a year and a half of hang ups, we have the building permits for a massive addition to our gym. Just imagine: Two levels of bouldering. Increased square footage for fitness. Adjustable Cracks. Separate Cycling Room. More Locker Space. New Front Entrance. And so much more.
Adjustable cracks! Great news, Mission Cliffs!
It was on prolonged hiatus there for a bit, but last night our pal Rachel delivered the good news:
Sidewalk dance party on Lexington between 20th and 21st tonight!!!
Major bummer! Hopefully [I]t was small and they’ll open this evening as planned.
UPDATE: Says Jay of Dear Mom: “The art studio next door had a fire and Oliver and I ran with our best Kurt Russell and 5 fire extinguishers to put out the blaze. Or the little fire. We’ll be kissing babies and signing autographs all night. Open at 5pm.”
(Thanks for the tip, Storts.)

UPDATE: The fire was in a unit “either above or behind” Mission Chinese Food, but they put it out quick, thank goodness. Mission Local has further details here. [via hadsrobinson]
It’s called Mission Mattress. And it’s not just doing updates about itself; it also covers such other Mission favorites as cannibal pigeons, shoe piles — and Occupy Oakland.
(Thanks, Cristina!)
UPDATE: There’s a Flickr group covering similar territory.
