Rock climbing in a prom dress

The folks at Mission Cliffs had a little Climbers’ Prom the other day, and Doc Pop was on the scene snapping pics. Looks like fun! Lots more here.

P.S. If you haven’t gotten a copy of the first issue of Doc’s zine American Analog, get to it!

Stripes overload!

A friend of mine is having a stripes-themed birthday party this weekend, and the Facebook invite just totally exploded with pics of everybody wearing stripes. One of our fashion expert pals said, “This party is so on trend for Spring 2013,” so I figured we should share it all with everybody, so you’ll be in the know. Behold:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ALLISON!

P.S. A bonus! A pair of relevant videos, after the jump…

If by chance you damaged your denim onesie at the big wheel race, Self Edge can probably fix it

I saw a lot of crashes and smashes, so there’s a good chance your denim onesie might’ve sustained a hole or rip or a gash. If so, take it to our neighborhood denim outpost and their brand-new repair shop will fix ‘em right up!

Behind the scenes at Darn-It!, the new denim repair shop by Self Edge

Self Edge has long been the place to bring your jeans for repairs and hemming, but they’ve traditionally used outside contractors for those services. This month, they finally opened up their very own operation, and it is quite a place:

This vintage-style studio will be one of the only of its kind in the country and offers two different types of 1950s Singer Darning Machines, a rare vintage 43200G Union Special Chainstitching Machine and a 1920s  Steel Kick Press, along with a dedicated team of sewing experts.

Here’s the team at work, step by step, hemming up a new pair of jeans:

And then boom, you’re all happy about your brand-new pants:

Questions asked by a guy laying in a puddle

McAwkward shares a little interaction:

On the way to catch the bus, I walked by a guy laying in a puddle and he said to me, “Hey, what’s up with those pink pants?” I’m wearing black jeans.

What a scene! Read on.

The reason why everybody wears Adidas Sambas

Someone was finally able to shed some light on this important question:

Sambas are excellent shoes for biking around the city. This can explain part of their popularity. They have very stiff soles that don’t flex on the pedals and are relatively flat on the bottom which helps your feet fit nicely on the pedals.

N0w we can move on to other important matters!  Like why people wait in lines for hours outside sneaker shops for new Nike Flights even though they don’t play basketball.  And why do people who aren’t Crips wear British Knights???
