Knife fight on 24th Street

From our pal Lauren Mc:

I just called 911 for a knife fight on 24th street. Suspect has been apprehended. Fighting bystander effect one day at a time.

Bystander effect is no joke! I watched 30 people see this going down and NO ONE was on a phone calling the police.

And her friends reminisce:

-I saw two dudes at 24th and Shotwell fighting once. One had a cobblestone and the other had a knife. Cops broke it up bearing shotguns.

-My neighbor called 911 for a knife fight between two woman on mission street. Here’s the shocker… The lady who got stabbed told the cops that my neighbor stabbed her. He was taken in and released few hours later. Some crazy ass people out there…

Nice work Lauren! Good thing there are no Lululemon stores in the Mission!

Serial rapist’s ‘particularly brutal’ crimes apparently result in broken necks and blood all over the sidewalk

A message circulated by SF Women Against Rape:

There is a serial rapist attacking women near 25th and Potrero. It’s particularly brutal (breaking necks) and he’s doing it in public. Fighting back does not deter him. The police have requested that this not go into the news or posted in flyers as that would lead to him relocating and they’re trying to catch him. So, please spread the word via word of mouth to those who spend time in the neighborhood. He’s doing it around around 4-5am.

And a message from the Fair Oaks Community Coalition:

Today at 6:30 AM, a woman was attacked on 24th Street, and raped around the corner on Fair Oaks Street. The woman has been hospitalized and is under care in San Francisco. The SFPD cordoned off the northwest corner during their investigation, and the fire department was later called to wash blood from the sidewalk. Nancy Deutsch, who lives across the street, found a bloody undergarment in shrubs near her home and gave it to the police, who have classified this as a “very violent crime,” and are giving it their utmost attention.

There were apparently no witnesses, and are no suspects at present – however, in the event that you may have heard or seen something in this area at that time, PLEASE NOTIFY THE POLICE DIRECTLY. Believe it or not, the preferred contact method is not by phone (which ties up the station’s switchboard), but by email or Twitter:

Rape suspect currently prowling the Mission

Be on the look out! SFPD needs your help identifying a “person of interest” in a few sexual assault cases that happened along 24th Street as recently as this morning. According to the SFPD:

One incident occurred in November and another on today’s date. In these cases both victims were attacked by a suspect identified as a black male, mid 30’s, 5’9” – 6’00”, medium build last seen wearing a black hoodie, and dark pants.
suspect 2
Both victims were walking in the early morning hours between 3:00 am and 6:30 am. when they were attacked from behind. A struggle ensued and the victims were sexually assaulted and then robbed of their belongings in both incidents. The suspect then fled on foot in an unknown direction with the victims items.

Read on for further details. If you have any tips, please call the anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444 or “Text-a-Tip” at Tip411. Include SFPD in the text.

(Thanks for the tip, Jenny.)

Two bikes, no lock

image

Just leaning against a tree on 22nd while the owners each enjoyed a slice of pizza at a table inside, the u-lock resting on the table as well.

I had half a mind to jump on the taller one and ride around the block to teach this couple a lesson, but decided not to be a jerk (this time).

Lock your bikes, people!

Pupnapped!

This is James. James got pupnapped from the SF SPCA by some pupnappers yesterday afternoon! And what’s worse, he was scheduled to go home to a new family yesterday evening! Here are some details on the culprits:

The SF SPCA has video footage of the criminals, who can be described as a Latino couple in their mid-30′s that were accompanied by a child. The man is approximately 5′ 7″, heavy-set, with spiky black hair and a short beard. The woman was approximately 5′ 6″, thin, with dark hair. They were accompanied by a 4 – 6 year old boy with dark hair. The group was driving an older white Sedan, possibly a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry.

Read on for more salient info, and please keep your eyes peeled.

UPDATE: James is back, and fine. Details forthcoming, hopefully.
