Woody Allen shoot moves to 24th and Florida

I wonder if we’ll run into Woody at St. Francis later.

CONTEST: Win tickets to the LCD Soundsystem concert film at the Roxie this weekend

THERE WILL BE DANCING IN THE AISLES.

I saw this thing at the Embarcadero screening in July, but it was a 7pm show on a weekday so everybody was kind of sedate. These are 11pm shows on a Friday and Saturday night in the Mission, so THERE WILL BE DANCING IN THE AISLES (even if it’s just me). Mike from the Roxie is onboard I think. Says he, “We’re going to play it SO LOUD!”

Furthermore, you can win a PARTY PACK OF FOUR so you can three pals can DANCE IN THE AISLES TOGETHER. All’s you have to do is tell us about your happiest LCD Soundsystem-related memory in the comments section below. Contest ends at noon on Thursday. Winner will be picked based on merit.

Seriously, if you loved LCD Soundsystem you will love this movie. And if you’ve never heard LCD Soundsystem, you will love them after watching this movie. (Seriously, this happened with a friend of mine last month.) I’m really excited about this, so I’m probably gonna post about it every day this week, so be prepared. Buy tickets and/or read all about the movie here.

And for goodness’ sake, RSVP and invite your friends!

Now let’s rock out:

THERE WILL BE DANCING IN THE AISLES.

Also, where shall we pre-game? Any bars on that block definitely have some LCD on the juke?

Local kids ask Woody Allen to buy them lunch

I once saw a Q&A with Paul Thomas Anderson at Cal. One kid got up and said, “Hi, Paul, I’m from Denver [or somewhere terribly far away, I forget] and I just graduated high school and have no college plans. All I want to do is work in the movies. I’ve loved your work, ever since I first saw Magnolia [when he was 12 or something]. Anyway, I heard about this event last week, so I got a ticket and borrowed a car and drove all this way by myself, because I wanted to ask you — can I be a P.A. on Oil!?” And Paul hired him on the spot. (“He’s seriously gonna regret this,” Paul immediately told the audience, “I’m gonna make his life a living hell.”)

Anyway, that was a few years back, so that kid is probably a rich Hollywood executive by now. These kids here should aim a little higher than just lunch.

Woody Allen filming today in the former Force of Habit Records at 20th and Lexington

But it appears they haven’t altered the facade or signage. (Maybe they’re making the Braindead Dave Story.) Anybody get a look at the interior?

Woody Allen filming in the Mission today

Reader Jennifer W. shares the news:

Thought your readers might be interested that the new Woody Allen movie is filming at the New Central Cafe (on S. Van Ness @ 14th) today. I live 1 block over on Shotwell and there’s no parking all up one side of the block so production trailers can come in. The production company listed on the flyered notice is “Perdido Productions,” which according to IMDb is working on “Untitled Woody Allen Project” known to be shooting in SF this month. Cate Blanchett might be in a trailer across the street from me right now!

Wow!

UPDATE: SFist has some video of the scene.

Woody in the Mission

Now that word’s all over (internet) town that Woody Allen is filming his new movie here in SF and even specifically in the Mission at times, and we’ve even argued over which one of us may actually be Woody Allen, some are beginning to wonder, what does Woody in the Mission sound like?

“Ping pong is so tiring, all the running around the table, I want a calmer sport, like getting home from Dear Mom with my wallet still in my pants.” – Woody Allan Hough.

‘Hard Ticket to Hawaii’, a summer blockbuster like no other, screens tonight only at the Roxie

The title and this still alone should have you convinced, but just in case, here’s an excerpt — the gnarliest, most stunningly inexplicable 1:42 of cinema you will ever watch:

The official Alamo Drafthouse New Mission press release

We’ve already heard quite a bit about this project, but I thought this official message, circulated this morning, might also be of interest:

****FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE****

ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE IS COMING TO SAN FRANCISCO!

Austin, TX— Wednesday, July 25, 2012—Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is pleased to announce its plans for Alamo Drafthouse New Mission in San Francisco, CA.  Alamo Drafthouse New Mission is slated to open during the fourth quarter of 2013 at 2550 Mission St. in the historic New Mission theater.

“With the possible exception of Austin, San Francisco is my favorite city in the world.  My parents met there, I was born in Berkeley, and my wife was working in the city before I begged her to come help me start my first theater venture in Bakersfield, CA,” said Alamo CEO and Founder Tim League.  “There is no accident that the first theater outside of Austin that my wife and I pursued is in San Francisco.”
