Shooting some sort of promotional video in Dolores Park

Places, everyone:

And, ACTION:

And that was it. She walked past the camera with a bag in her hand. They did a couple takes and then packed it all up.

How they’re going to turn the single-screen New Mission Theater into a five-screen Alamo Drafthouse mini-multiplex

This is what I’ve been wondering about since the project’s announcement. See for yourself — main screen downstairs, four little screens upstairs, no balcony (sad face):

As for the rest of the scene at Thursday night’s community meeting, you got a free bacon-wrapped hot dog for attending, it was fun being inside the dilapidated old place, and it was decently attended:

We got to hear some stories about the old days, when popcorn cost 25¢ and a hot dog cost 75¢ (and I was like, “Big whoop my hot dog tonight was FREE”), and then they spent 20 minutes assuring us this project will be good for the Latino community.

Anyway, I can’t wait to go to the movies on Mission Street!!!!!!!

Guerilla marketing for years-old SNL clip hits local ad for current Mark Wahlberg vehicle

And it worked, because, look, now we’re all watching it:

Still killer!

This Adam Sandler/Andy Samberg intertwined squirting dicks movie looks pretty good

Martin Scorsese’s George Harrison documentary tonight at the Roxie for one night only

I bet it’s way better at the Roxie than it was on PBS. Who even has a TV anymore, right?

New documentary about Hole drummer Patty Schemel hits the Roxie this weekend

It’s called Hit So Hard, and when it premieres this weekend at the Roxie, Schemel and Hole bandmate Eric Erlandson (and the filmmakers) will be on hand to introduce it and and answer questions. And who knows, maybe Courtney will crash the party and turn it into a first-class shitshow! Girl power!

Ticket info here.

Exceedingly entertaining Jay Reatard documentary returns to the Roxie this week

Two showings on Wednesday night, two showings on Thursday night. DO NOT MISS THIS. Whether you’re a fan of his music or a fan of AWESOME MOVIES, or both, you will love it.

Advance tickets and more info are available here.

Classic ’80s punk movie ‘Desperate Teenage Lovedolls’ screens tonight at the Roxie
