It seems like this place has been boarded up for years, because it has. The restaurant, which shares a name with an Indian TV show about conjoined twins who share a liver, will finally open this May. According to the sign seen above.
Apparently the same people have a spot of the same name in Palo Alto. I asked my friend and collaborator, Palo Alto resident Tanuj Chopra, what he thought about it and he said the food is fine and they have a solid reputation in the peninsula. About the style of their temporary sign he said “it’s interesting as the spots here are not graf or urban or edgy – feel like that’s just a temporary look or maybe a different marketing direction for SF.”
Well, they wouldn’t be the first to welcome themselves to the neighborhood by throwing up some “edgy urban artwork”. And maybe it does capture the feel of the establishment, according to the owner, this outlet will be a “high energy” 200 seat Indian tapas restaurant and bar. I guess we’ll see in May.
The case of Richard Sprague’s homicide (whose body, under a yellow tarp, lies where it was found in the above image) on February 19th has a suspect in custody. According to Mission Local Roland Pouncy, who was arrested last month with an ATM card formerly belonging to the victim, is now an official suspect in the homicide. Police had initially been hesitant to refer to him as anything other than a person of interest in possession of stolen property.
We previously posted about the homicide here.
The rain is here. The weather masters say it will rain into the foreseeable future. We need this water. And not just to wash all the scum off of the streets. Hetch Hetchy is thirsty. This week it’s getting slizzered.
Seriously though, this city has a hard time with rain, so be careful out there. The Muni windows will fog up from inside, iPhones will be ruined inside wet pockets, bikes and cars will splash each other (mostly cars), 18th and Guerrero will flood, 17th and Capp will smell like sewage and Mission Creek will roar into our basements. Let’s weather this storm together, because, really, it’s just a little water.
Pillowfight, the new Dan the Automator project, not the generic fight with pillows. Mr. The Automator, a music producer, may be known to you from such gems as Dr. Octagon, Handsome Boy Modeling School, Deltron 3030, Gorillaz, etc. Seriously, amazing body of work. Tomorrow, 3/11, he will be performing with Kid Koala, Micro mtns and alongside Emily Wells as Pillowfight.
The Make-Out Room is at 3225 22nd Street, between Mission and Bartlett. Doors open at 7pm.
Check out the Pillowfight preview, featuring art by Facebook quintillionaire David Choe.
