Bad Blood with Joshua Cobos: Denver Knows What’s Up

Every now and then, pro photographer Joshua Cobos shoots a roll of film just for us, picks his 13 favorites, and we publish them here and it’s called “Bad Blood.” Here’s what Joshua has to say about this week’s spread:

Went to Denver at the beginning of July. Ended up celebrating my birthday in the best possible way. That state know’s what’s up. Spent some time at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery with Katie Conry. I’ll be shooting in San Francisco August 15th through the 20th. See you then!

Thanks, Joshua! Be sure to follow him on Instagram and on Twitter. Ten more shots after the jump:

A note on gin bars

Local rum bar Smuggler’s Cove is opening a gin bar.

Right!? (Just kidding, Smuggler’s Cove rules and I’m sure they’ll do a great job with gin too.) (But goddamn, I hate gin.)

Virtual gamelan ensemble

My sister Elisa Hough built a web-based virtual gamelan ensemble! It’s very simple and incredibly fun to play. Check it out!

Megan Fox is Ribity?

Got an urgent email from Kat Malinowska just now:

Look at the resting image on this video of Megan Fox playing Pictionary: http://www.popsugar.com/Megan-Fox-Playing-Pictionary-Tonight-Show-Video-35425729

Whoa, yep, either Megan Fox is Ribity or she was a big fan of Mission Mission in the early days:

Here’s a classic Ribity (photographed by the Artist Formerly Known As Plug1), for reference:

I think maybe it’s an ad for Doc Pop’s latest album?

Biographical Info:

"I joked that living in the Mission would be the end of me. And there were nights where it felt like the case.

One night I went out with my friend Allan to the bar that no one goes to on 16th Street, where I lost half my drink and money on the dance floor. Later we skated down 16th to Evelyn Lee, where I fell off my board and landed on my head as the 22 bus sped past behind me. A sobering moment. At the bar, I sulked and nursed my wounds until Allan put on Amy Winehouse’s 'Valerie.' We danced, he dipped me, and I felt better."
