Not to threadjack, but I highly recommend the recent documentary “The Search For General Tso” which goes into the history of how Chinese-American cuisine came to be.
These are great – I eat them all the time. I mean really, what’s the difference between these and some taco shop burrito? I admit that I’m somewhat new to San Fran, and haven’t checked out the restaurant scene much, but I can’t see how there would be much difference in flavor. Maybe better quality ingredients can be had.
Nothing says authentic cuisine like textured vegetable protein and trans fat!
Not to mention water (first!) and MSG. They make burritos in China, now? Who knew?!
Actually, they do make burritos in China. When I was in Shanghai just over a year ago I went to a taqueria.
I think they’re paying us back (in spades) for Chinese-American cuisine.
