It feels a lot like Pop’s, but it smells a whole lot better and the bathrooms are clean. It’s definitely true to the vision co-owner Spike put forth in our lengthy Q&A with him from last December. Had a great time!
Here’s the menu:
It opens at 3pm today fyi!
Also, the photobooth gives you two copies of your strip AND emails you another:
Cool! A disneyfied, homage to Pop’s! That photo booth sucks. Way too much detail, they’re supposed to smooth over all our faults!
Pop’s is dead.
long live Pop’s
I will give them credit and say $5 draft and $3 cans isn’t yuppie prices.
Do they still have the $4 gin and tonics? That was my staple, really only needed 3-4 of those
I’m sorry but $3 for a can of Hamm’s? Thats fucking retarded…
well that’s SF now. Even the Attic started charging $3 I think.
The attics been dead for awhile duder
Drinking Hamm’s is retarded.
A lily white douchateria.
I aint goin there just to make some guilt trippin race baitin honky happy. Feel free to put some burnt cork on your face if it makes you feel better though.
I have no guilt son, I was raised Hindu. By the way, I loved your work on Chico and the Man, and Hon Kong Phooey of course.
you mean ALL OF san francisco right?
Because the old Pop’s was so diverse…
Opening shift is was, mostly neighborhood Latinos when I drank there.
Let me know if they bring back $1 Hamms night. Until then, Pop’s is still too far.
The new Pop’s is an homage to it’s entire history. Very well done!
Haha, love the people bitching here. When it first closed down everyone was saying it was going to be a shitty lounge. This may not be the old Pop’s, but shit, it could’ve been waaaaaay worse.
I’m saying. motherfuckers here cant appreciate shit.
A bar is really all about who goes there, seems the Pops crowd is going there so I’m fine with new Pops. The air conditioner is absurd though, calm that shit down.
old Pop’s was a featureless hipster dive with no character who’s claim to fame was an ‘emo night’ . . . now replaced by new Pop’s, a hipster dive with no character, but it’s tragic because old Pop’s was opened when y’all moved here 6 years ago and now something’s changed.
don’t worry, there’s a whole new wave of hipsters moving here who will go to Pop’s and then feel the weight of the world crush the most precious thing in their world when it changes hands again in five years amidst their un-ironic cries of ‘gentrification’
i just called a wah-bulance for you all fucking whiners… it’ll be in front of pops
“Jagger” is spelled wrong.
Jäger – oops
OMG it’s almost as bad as that time they repainted the Boogaloos building! The neighborhood just never recovered from that.
So the one actual thing the new owners could have done to make the Pop’s better (accept credit cards)is naturally the one thing they kept the same.
cash is king/it’s hard out there for a yuppie
Wow, you guys are all really upset about this shitty dive bar getting slightly updated. Living and breathing must be really super hard for you all.
