Every now and then, the now-LA-based but still SF-devoted photographer Joshua Cobos shoots a roll of film just for us. He picks the best 13 shots and we call it “Bad Blood with Joshua Cobos.” Here’s what Joshua has to say about this edition:
This roll is an example of the various types of shoots I’ve been on in the past month. The first photo is Ashley Pamela on her birthday off Melrose. Ashley Ording on a concept shoot at the Legion of Honor. Allyson Hillerby is a model / vintage lover I just met, she runs an online store / appointment only shop in the Mission. My pals near St. Francis Fountain on a recent trip to SF. Back in LA, I saw Michelle Guintu’s new art show off Santa Monica Blvd., at various times with various people wandered around Hollywood during our Winter Heatwave and worked with the twin brother punk band The Garden.
Thanks, Joshua! Ten more shots after the jump:
Sorry, I am never moved or even can appreciate his work.
Anyone else see these posts and wonder why MM keeps posting his work?
Cool opinion, fuckface.
Allan edits/changes contents of posts.
And is obviously in love with this photographer.
You go girl.
I LOVE ALLAN
Nepotism? Favor owed? High school buddies? Slow news days? I too do not see anything extraordinary about these pics. Can someone explain what makes his pics worthy? I know I’m missing the artistic gene.
At least you show some form of humor. Thanks for taking the time to view my work & to comment. Art isn’t made to be praised or critiqued, though that could be one of the reasons I choose to exhibit ‘Bad Blood.’ I’ve stated many times though that the rolls posted are a mixture of assignments, commissions and my journal. Everyone should keep a journal of their life, it’s nice to be able to reference the moments we cherish. It might even help someone make less mistakes if they’re lucky enough to keep living.
Once you release your “art” into the world it is open for criticism or praise.
Art isn’t made to be praised or critiqued?????
Favor owed?
More like fuck buddy.
I always find Joshua’s ph
I think Joshua’s photos are beautiful & memorable. He definitely has a point of view & BB is an awesome addition to MM.
“Bad Blood” always makes my day. I don’t “get” everything, but there’s always a “voice” in all the photos.
Joshua´s photos show a reality. One of the photos, the white kinda hipsters kids hanging out on a Mission mural, speaks a lot about the gentrification that my hood (Latino, workers class) is suffering these days.
please elaborate.
These pictures don’t suck as much as the earlier ones.
THat woman looks so hideous!!! She could be so pretty if she didn’t have that ridiculous outfit on!
Everything is about -3 degrees from level. Almost every shot has the same slanted horizon line. I find it disconcerting… like that horrible John Travolta sci-fi movie where nothing was ever shot level.
Keep up the good work Joshua!
