Or is he . . . ? He deleted this tweet shortly after he tweeted it. Maybe because it could be seen as criticizing Twitter on Twitter? Maybe because he would seem hypocritical to be concerned about San Francisco’s shifting demographics? Who knows, maybe he was hacked. Maybe he meant it in a positive way, that the Twitter IPO could finally clear out any remaining undesirables. Wait, wait, maybe I’m being too harsh on ol’ Newsom. It was just an ellipsis with an extra dot. Who can know what meaning lay beneath that fourth little dot . . . . ?

The press release goes into a bit more detail:

Indulge in a hangtown benedict that pays homage to the original gold seekers “forty-niners” during a time when oysters and eggs were silver and gold. The hangtown is made with their house made biscuits, topped with fried oysters dusted in semolina durum wheat flour, house cured and smoked bacon and hollandaise. For a taste of sweetness, their bourbon challah french toast features challah from Marla Bakery, seasonal fruit compote, real maple syrup. Their rice dish comes with slow cooked “onsen” eggs served in dashi and the guests’ choice of roasted Llano Seco pork belly, Marin Sun Farms chicken thigh or Namu farm vegetable tempura. And there’s nothing better than eggs on toast–their egg sandwich takes care of that craving!

What’s a great pairing for these goodies? Namu Gaji has created a bloody mary, made with heirloom tomatoes from their Namu Farm, two shots of soju, and pickled Namu farm veggies.

If anyone can provide some perspective on all the changes that have been occurring in the Mission as of late, it’s Michelle Tea, a local author who’s been around to witness the progression since at least the ’90s.  Her refreshingly honest writing on everything from drugs to gentrification strikes a personal nerve in anyone who’s lived in this neighborhood for a while (as does her tales of adventures at the Albion before it became Delerium) .

Anyway, tonight’s your chance to meet her!

Published in 2000, Valencia brought fame and critical acclaim to local writer Michelle Tea. This autobiographical slice of life of the late 90s Mission explores topics like queer culture, kinky sex, and obsession. Recently, chapters of Valencia have been made into a series of short films known as The Valencia: Movie/s

Join Adobe Books and Michelle Tea for this love letter to Mission subcultures! The reception will begin at 6:30pm; screening at 8pm. Michelle Tea will be in attendance and introduce the film.

Local band Hot Lunch have a sweet new music video out for a sweet song, “She Wants More”. In it they use Sutro Tower to broadcast their song all over the city, shred all kinds (musical instruments and skateboards) and rock it at El Rio.

Billy and Bruce of Polaroid SF are celebrating another year of daily instants with another show at 111 Minna, and they shared with us a sneak peek of some of their favorite shots from our neighborhood. The light in the Mission is some of the best in the city. The ‘golden hour’ always seems to last a little longer in this part of the town. And there is never a shortage of characters out on the street to engage with. A day out shooting in the Mission is almost always rewarding.

Another Year in Polaroids opens this Friday the 13th, 5-10pm, and of course it includes a Polaroid photobooth. The show is up for one night only, so add this to your calendars now!

…and yet, it’s no secret that the Mission’s dreamiest antiques/typewriter shop/performance space is also home to a bathroom that makes people exclaim “I would pay rent to live in there!” upon exiting, and that’s not just because they can’t afford to live anywhere else in the neighborhood anymore.

Now you can share your love for her claw-foot tub, overstuffed armchair and exquisite lighting with the world by voting for this very restroom to win the title of “America’s Best Restroom” from renowned restroom experts(?)
