Formerly called “The Untitled Michael Lannan Project”, HBO’s new series about a few gay men who design video games and hang out in Mission bars is now casting for background extras. They have a “constant need for 20s-30s Hipsters/Mission Neighborhood types & LGBT Community”. And you “must be able to pull off Hipster vibe with your own clothes or style”. Make of that what you will.

Quit waiting around for the Real World narcissists to come to your neighborhood bar and get out there and get on this show! Then send us back some reports from the set!
UPDATE: Doc Pop notices that they’re shooting at Doc’s Clock today.

Wow, this is awesome…as in awesomely lame. San Franhattan here we go!
Not as lame as old jokes like yours. Way past of no return, my slow friend.
Is this the S.F. version of Friends?
According to the DP: “I wouldn’t call it a comedy or even a dramedy,” says Reed. “It’s more like real life — some of it’s funny and some of it is sad and poignant. The main character is an endearing guy who screws up a lot. It doesn’t glamorize the lifestyle — it’s definitely not Sex in the City for gays. It’s hopefully more truthful and provocative.”
It might as well be about one of the guys (& his friends) who lives in the flat below our old place in Noe Valley. He quit his job to do a start-up – video games for the gay community. He was definitely quite the hipster, his friends were always smoking weed when they came over (we can smell it upstairs), he had a rainbow flag as his curtain, and I always bumped into him and his friends bumming around Dolores Park or Valencia.
When is the casting call? I would also be interested in helping with wardrobe!

I OFTEN VISIT DOCS CLOCK AT 1PM ON A TUESDAY WITH MY JAPANESE SEX DOLL.
why do San Franciscans freak out over trivial things like a show filming in the ‘hood?’ Navel-gaze, much?
Freak out? This is a neighborhood blog, and they’re posting a casting call for something happening in the neighborhood. No read good?
I get you miss NY/LA, but making things up won’t make you much closer.
pee-yuke
Sounds awesome. the next… Breaking Bad… Sex in the City?
Melrose Place here we come.
When you have a neighborhood that’s so cool that TV producers start using it for filming, it becomes even more cool because people see how cool it is on TV and show up in real life looking for the fun and magic.
This is a big win/win for the Mission. Look what it did for LA.
How bout they few remaining latin folks that still remain..Mission aint all hipsters
what’s a hipster?
Really? They’re all over the Mission like white on rice, kiddo.
that doesn’t help
