Another restaurant burned last night, adding itself to the list of neighborhood eateries catching fire recently.

You’ll recall that We Be Sushi and Thai House 530 on Valencia were both affected by a fire less than two weeks ago. Little Baobab burned just 9 days before that. We Be and Thai House are re-opening soon and Little Baobab moved their business next door. Earlier this year, across the Bay, Chez Panisse was damaged by fire, and has since re-opened. In the Bay, Forbes Island caught fire just three weeks ago.
There was a fire at Chez Spencer this morning and we will keep you posted on when we will be back open. Thanks for your support.

Be careful, restaurants!
Bummer. Love this place and had actually just made a set of reservations.
Anyone have the scoop on which neighboring buildings are affected?
From SF Appeal – “The fire also caused $50,000 in damage to a residential building at 90 14th St. and $350,000 in damage to another residential building at 74 and 76 14th St”
Thankfully, no one had to be displaced.
I live two blocks away from there, can’t believe I didn’t hear anything last night. Super sad about this. I never got the chance to eat there, but I always wanted to. It was definitely nearing the top of my expensive-restaurants-to-save-up-for list.
Hmmm…insurance fires?
I remember going to a punk rock party at a house across the street from there. People ended up hurling abuse at the patrons waiting in line for their tables to open up.
It seemed preposterous to have a white table cloth and fine crystal kind of place right in the grungy heart of the Mission.
Nowadays, that’s what the Mission is known for.
COOL STORY, HANSEL!
Relatively cheaper rent + foresight. Makes sense.
“Nowadays”? Dude, that was only 10 years ago. The Mission was well on its way to being stuffed with fancy restaurants at that point.
