Cool Try, the store

We’ve gushed about Cool Try and its awesome line of t-shirts and things many times in these pages, so we’re happy to be able to say Cool Try is now a real-life store right here in the Mission!

It’s located at 483 14th Street, at Guerrero, right across from Thieves Tavern and Box Dog.

Now here’s everything we’ve ever said about Cool Try and founder Ryan de la Hoz:

I don’t trust any store with such a low merchandise-to-square-footage ratio. It has got to be absurdly overpriced.

I actually went to the grand opening, prices range literally from $5 to $100 (for handmade jackets limited to 10 jackets total) but their main selection is T Shirts priced at $25 each, and bags are $15 each.

Or the rent is really cheap. Or it’s a drug front. Or they or their family owns the building.

I personally know Ryan De La Hoz and I can assure you that he’s a very passionate, down to earth artist that is definitely not in this profession for the money, but for the love of getting to create. The stuff he has for sale uses high quality materials that are gonna last you for a while. I bought one of his shirts maybe two years ago and it still looks as good as the day I got it.

Just watch out for that “Monarhcy” (her term for her solo anarchy and vandalism) from Elle co. https://twitter.com/elleko or at least if the storefront has SCAM written on it soon they know where to look….

  3. LetMeIn says:

    Store for the gulli-bullshit!

  4. Meowingtons says:

Are those decorative plates for sale?

  5. Really interesting and unique designs. Ryan is a great guy and each t shirt has a story behind it.

Pretty sure this is just the factory left overs from Urban Outfitters. This would have been a hit in 1999.

    • Catz says:

Well I was at the grand opening and it was a hit then! Send us the link to what you are contributing to the world and hopefully an anonymous internet dweller won’t talk shit just for the sake of it. Make it yourself. Make it better. Shut up.

The thing I like most about those t-shirts is the fact that they are a key indicator I should avoid any and all conversation with the person wearing one of them.

Makes life so much easier. I am glad silly places like this exist.

    • Catz says:

Yes M! Keep your sad assumptions to yourself. You’re better off not talking to anyone actually. I’m glad there are silly people like you who we don’t have to interact with.
