Do they have better pigs in oakland? Why did you feel the need to point out one type of meat as being better across the board in oakland? You sound dumb.
I LOVE when this blog hates on Oakland, and we all get to keep our amazing food treasures to ourselves. We sure don’t want ass hats, like this guy with his luke warm leftover ignorance, polluting our YUMZ. Rod, keep up the good work. Let them know it’s out there, just out of their greasy reach.
What amazes me even more is that this dude already named the best burrito joint in a post back in 2007….he just felt like being a douche today I guess. This blog gets worse and worse. Stick with the photos of hipsters and reminiscing of when the mission was actually worth writing about. We’ll handle everything Oakland-related elsewhere.
No, a SD burrito is more like taco fillings in a flour tortilla. Similar to La Taqueria in SF or Tacos Morenos in Santa Cruz. Haven’t tried it with fried potato but next time will for sure. Carne asada fries are really good too.
It drove me frothing-at-the-mouth crazy when Tony Bourdain did his San Francisco episode, but when he wanted to visit a taco truck, he went to Oakland!
Da Pitt? Hahahahah! Acting like you know something, again. You are a dumbass with your Blog-absolutes. Da Pitt is just Da Latest meat-cookin op in that space…changing hands to avoid Da Man. Again, NOTHING IS THE BEST. the best is nothing. Bar that.
On Divis, it was about Do City in tha day, but it was crappy and a heroin front across from The Vis.
Naw. Da Pitt has the same BBQ chef/recipe as Brother-in-Laws did (and the intervening name, which I can’t remember). Same guy’s been tending the smoker there for at least 15 years. And, yes, It is the best BBQ in the city.
This blog lost all credibility on the burrito front a long time ago, these bloggers don’t even eat beans.
“We ordered ours with grilled chicken, regular salsa, and no beans. (Unless they’re of the cannellini variety and tinged with rosemary and olive oil, we don’t care for beans.)” – Alan Hough
You are such a troll! But entertaining. Actually someone who was dedicated to Cancun and Faralitos having lived in the mission for several years and the TL, AND BEING MEXICAN with a family who regularly cooked carnitas, I have to say the best burrito I’ve had so far, at least downtown oakland was Axtlan, but it’s only open during work hours during the week. Lame. But seriously, amazing carnitas. Like what my uncles and aunts made. But you would know that because trolls know everything!!! So went an I even telling you the obvious!
… As said by someone who has never been to Sinaola, Sinaola Mariscos, El Novillo or Guadalajara. I’ll admit that El Farolito has better burritos but find me better tacos than those places and ill be indebted to ya.
I really can’t believe no one has mentioned La Penca Azul on Park in Alameda. Formally La Pinata. That place is bomb. But don’t take my word for it. Try it out for yourself.
Nice post. I was checking continuously this blog and I’m inspired!
Extremely helpful information particularly the closing section :
) I care for such information much. I used to be seeking this certain
information for a very long time. Thanks and best of luck.
I’d say “Fogbeard” don’t know shit.
Well….it probably came from a truck on East 14th in 1988. Nowadays, who knows. The rents are rising in Oaktown while they drop in SF – TRUE STORY.
Its the Quan all bull tortilla, hello?
People that blog about breaking laws and vandalism probably leave their trash on Bart.
Burritos are so 1967! Papusas are the new jam!
I’ve had decent burritos in Berkeley but no luck in Oakland so far. Fruitvale maybe?
There are at least a dozen spots in Oakland with burritos just as good as the Mission (and better carnitas) — and they won’t cost you $9, you suckas!
$9 burrito? Not sure what places you frequent, but do let me know so I can avoid them.
Incorrect, on so many levels.
Wow, you really think you are some kind of authority on a thing.
Yup. Pretty much, yeah.
He’s an authority on everything except reality.
Do they have better pigs in oakland? Why did you feel the need to point out one type of meat as being better across the board in oakland? You sound dumb.
dirtier pigs make for better carnitas – Jalisco Cafe in Oakland.
the best burrito in Oakland comes from a truck and i ain’t sharing the location of that truck anytime soon.
Oh man, you’re so cool and in the know! Thanks for letting everyone know how cool you are. Members only!!

Sorry, SF!

San Diego… Best burritos in the States!
Go home kook.
Would you like fries with that(or in that crappy burrito)?
No, a SD burrito is more like taco fillings in a flour tortilla. Similar to La Taqueria in SF or Tacos Morenos in Santa Cruz. Haven’t tried it with fried potato but next time will for sure. Carne asada fries are really good too.
Fuck you Jane Parton.
That reference is totally over my head but I’ll take it as a compliment
SD burrito should never be used in the same sentence as Tacos Morenos.
That is the best burrito around, not this refried bean garbage from further south you speak of.
I used to live right around the corner from Tacos Morenos and it was fucking awful. They didn’t even have black beans.
^ YOU LIVED IN SC? Damn dood I probably would know you, but you probably went to Stevenson or Merrill
Tacos Morenos was Especial, but their is no ‘Best’ anywhere.
Pinto or refried over black beans. get with it
Naw. Frijoles Negros Rule Supreme.
Codswallop.
It drove me frothing-at-the-mouth crazy when Tony Bourdain did his San Francisco episode, but when he wanted to visit a taco truck, he went to Oakland!
Probably has something to do with the fact that Fruitvale has better tacos than anywhere in SF, no?
Heh. You’re funny.
That’s the truth – can’t front on that. Those trucks destroy.
Judging by the fogbeard’s posts, that kid would probably eat anything. Because he is high on pot. And pot makes you want to eat things.
Probably easier to find good BBQ in SF
Simple: Da Pitt on Divis. Best BBQ in SF, bar none.
Agree, but it was better back when it was Brother-in-Laws.
Remember Do City?
best bbq in SF.. doesn’t mean good BBQ
Da Pitt? Hahahahah! Acting like you know something, again. You are a dumbass with your Blog-absolutes. Da Pitt is just Da Latest meat-cookin op in that space…changing hands to avoid Da Man. Again, NOTHING IS THE BEST. the best is nothing. Bar that.

My BBQ is the best BBQ in the city.
Good BBQ doesn’t exist in California.
Incorrect.
blah blah blah

Yeah Castroville! Where Marilyn was Artichoke Queen.
Salinas Valley, ese.

You do realize that what you’re quoting is actually itself a quote from SFist, and not Allan, right?
Oops, my bad!
I meant to say, Baja Taqueria on Piedmont ave in Oakland has some good burritos.
Piedmont doesn’t really count as Oakland no matter what the zip code is – this I know because I lived there for a spell.
Piedmont Ave. that is, not Piedmont, Italy. R.I.P. Kwikway.
The best burrito in Oakland is a 20 minute BART ride out of the fucking suburbs and get to Taqueria Can-Cun at 6th and Market.
You go ahead and keep believing that.
Cool, glad we’re on the same page!

CanCun on 6th used to have the best al pastor anywhere — better even than Mexico City — but their trompo broke and now it sucks.
… As said by someone who has never been to Sinaola, Sinaola Mariscos, El Novillo or Guadalajara. I’ll admit that El Farolito has better burritos but find me better tacos than those places and ill be indebted to ya.
…and click-bait.
Mission Mission — your forum for SF arrested adolescence.

The Chile Relleno Burrito from Xolo in uptown is crazy good.
Man, I love me some SF burritos, but I don’t know what on earth is better than anything from Sinaloa on International.
I got so sick of the Mission, I left. I am happier in the Excelsior.
Taqueria Guadalajara in San Leandro. Been a long time since I’ve been there though…..
I really can’t believe no one has mentioned La Penca Azul on Park in Alameda. Formally La Pinata. That place is bomb. But don’t take my word for it. Try it out for yourself.
