    That was the result of a period of volcanic winter caused by the 1883 eruption of Krakatoa. There were record blizzards worldwide.

      So I was reading this thinking “uh, I think you got the years wrong, dude” and then fell into a Wikipedia rabbit hole learning about the 1883 Krakatoa eruption. Holy shit balls, that affected world climate for 5+ years after the event! That’s insane!
