Dolores Park overhaul could face delays because somebody doesn’t like the look of the new bathrooms

SFGate reports:

“The curves work,” said Commissioner Ron Miguel, referring to the shape of the fences above the building.

“But then you throw a box inside it, that doesn’t work,” he added, referring to the sharp edges of the building itself.

This might be a minor detail to some, but for project architects Susan Aitken and Aditya Advani, it means the entire project could be delayed.

Good gravy. Read on.

    Monorail!

Ron Miguel is secretly a hobbit.

Miguel should stick to being JUST a dentist. He knows zero about urban design. Shut him up.

Source? You’re linking to a far-right fringe website that steals content from a local blog. Just link directly to the story, here:

The Chronicle is far right fringe? Have you read other newspapers? Sure, the commenters are among the dumbest in the area, but really? Far right?

      • JMC says:

The Chron is a mouthpiece of the Willie & Rose crowd, who are certainly on the right wing of SF politics. Compared to your typical Mission residents, they’re pretty out there. Only in comparison to other (billionaire-owned) newspapers does it seem normal.

        • Emily says:

I certainly agree with it being the Willie Brown fan club, but far right fringe for San Francisco is not far right fringe.

          • Herr Doktor Professor Deth Vegetable says:

Chronicle isn’t even “far-right” for San Francisco. That particular distinction would go to the Examiner.

    • Herr Doktor Professor Deth Vegetable says:

The chronicle is right-of-center, certainly, as a Hearst paper, but calling it “far-right fringe” is just ridiculous.

      • SFdoggy says:

Only in SF, would anyone read the Chronicle and consider it right of center. Get some perspective.

        • Herr Doktor Professor Deth Vegetable says:

I live in San Francisco. If I wanted to live in a rightwing city, I would.

        • Ariel Dovas says:

Yeah, this is SF. So how far should the perspective reach? Just wondering. Statewide? Countrywide? Worldwide?

          • SFdoggy says:

Though it is difficult, SFer’s should try to have a perspective that extends beyond SF and maybe have an understanding of where SF stands in the U.S. political context.

    • thefrederale says:

Mission Local shares their stories to SFGate with an agreement. It’s hard to call that stealing but maybe consensual sex is just rape.

The rest of the U.S. fucking HATES The SF Chron for being a liberal leftist bleeding heart rag. Maybe being a target of the far right is living proof that it’s actually more right wing than everything else.

  4. Sam Foster says:

Shouldn’t we just be happy there ARE bathrooms?

  5. Old Mission Neighbor says:

The Chronicle is a far right paper?? Hahaha!

  6. manymachines says:

    I would use those bathrooms.

  7. thefrederale says:

Let the community design the bathrooms. Let’s start a series of action committees to decide how to decide on the format for the upcoming community design meetings.

    • GG says:

Sadly, that honestly seems like a fair depiction of how most SF projects are undertaken.

    • SFdoggy says:

Actually, the community was already involved in the design of the bathrooms as part of the overall design process for Dolores Park. And because of community input, this proposed design is somewhat different than what was originally proposed. But overall, the bathroom design did not cause much controversy.

BTW, I understand your comment was sarcastic. It just shows how difficult it is to suggest a planning process in SF that is more absurd than what already exists.

Who does this Ron Miguel guy think he is? Christo? We’re all gonna’ be way more concerned with our bladders reaching critical mass than whether the curve of a fence properly complements the shape of the building we’re urinating in.

Get over yourself, Ron. You’re a bureaucratic, which means you failed at whatever it was you really wanted to do with your life. So quit your little pissing contest so we can quit ours (so to speak).
