The Corner AND Weird Fish got sold to some Boogaloo’s guy or something. The Corner will become a European-style cafe called the Perch. Weird Fish is staying the same, but it’ll close for a bit for renovations. Eater SF reports:
Expect Weird Fish to close this Saturday, allowing time for a few interior tweaks and the necessary permits to come through. It should reopen in early to mid-March. The Perch’s debut will happen about two months thereafter, complete with minor decor refinements and the aforementioned totally new Euro small plates shtick.
I heard that Weird Fish’s bathroom is being replaced by a window.
I heard it was so some random chick could pee out ov it…

I am so sick of “small plates.” If you are genuinely a tapas restaurant (i.e. Esperpento) you get a pass, but everybody else just cut it the fuck out. If I’m not eating with other vegetarians I don’t want to have to figure out how/what we’re all going to share, and I don’t want to have to guess how much food is coming and whether x number of small plates is enough to make a meal. OK, I’m done ranting, thank you. #whitewhine

Especially when the “small” plate costs as much as a regular plate. WTF is up with that?
if you don’t have friends to eat with, don’t go to a small plates/sharing restaurant. let other people enjoy things, plenty of room for everyone.
Absolutely not. Nothing is quite as boring as a big slab of whatever with something green next to it. I’d rather 5 small interesting plates than one big boring one. Almost every restaurant that has a “traditional” menu, the apps are all much more interesting than the mains.
don’t diss a good thali!!!

You are destroying everything pure and good about San Francisco.
Can’t we just get a Home Town Buffet?
We’re going to need to widen the sidewalks first.
The Corner doesn’t have the kitchen or the license to be a full service restaurant– that’s why they stopped having pop ups there. So the small plates are likely light cafe fare that don’t need much kitchen preparation.
Bring back the Three Jays.
I’m waiting for more affordable restaurants to come into our neighborhood. Too many of the new ones aren’t affordable and take themselves too seriously

according to the site, Peter Hood (Boogaloos) is the new owner and also an original partner is creating Weird Fish. Also an original partner in creating the Corner which will become The Perch. Didn’t take much to find out the facts on this one. Longtime small business owner Peter Hood seems to do well with his other efforts like St Francis and Boogaloos. 18th and Mission can use some positive energy.
