It’s to show their support for this dude John Avalos who’s running for mayor. Whatever the reason, this will surely be a seriously unique dance party. They’re scheduled to do their thing from 2-5PM.

That was a blast! Avalos rolled up like the Mission’s conquering hero in a low rider convoy and came out to dance along with several lucha libres in Avalos gear. Check the photos here:

But the high point was when Occupy SF marched into the park and a cheer went up from the jaded cool kids and maybe of them came pouring down Hipster Hill to join in. Good times.
Amazingly the cops/rangers never showed up to shut it down. Props to the League of Pissed Off Voters for getting the sound system together and making it happen.
