Mission Local reports:
Despite the third deadly shooting in the Mission in less than a week, Police Captain Greg Corrales said that “residents and visitors should feel safe.”
“[Police Chief Greg Suhr] has given me all the resources and personnel that I need” he said. “We have a lot of officers out there. Other than this unrelated homicide, it’s been pretty peaceful since the two gang shootings.”
It’s unlikely that gang members would want to retaliate with a heavy police presence on the streets, he said.
Read on. (Oh, but there was also another shooting.)
But Ingleside has enough cops that there are four plainclothes officers available to hang around Bernal Heights and help Apple recover a lost iToy.
Ingleside doesn’t actually have enough cops – they’re perpetually complaining they’re understaffed. That’s part of what makes the whole thing so ridiculous.
(Actually, I haven’t heard them complain about understaffing in 6 months or so – maybe they got a bunch more people. I sort of doubt it, though.)
He’s right, we SHOULD feel safe. So how come we don’t.
I did see three separate pairs of beat cops walking around in the Mission yesterday. It was a nice change from the general guys-in-a-car-cruising-around. Regular and sustained foot patrols are what are needed.
deport all these fucks
Fuck you, shithead.
I don’t think deporting incompetent police officers would do much good, but I’d be willing to give it a try.
+1
If you can’t handle city living, go back to Dustopolis, Pilgrim.
But here’s the deal; you’ll find that those toothless hillbillies you left behind are now a pack of violent meth addicts.
I’m mostly in this camp I guess, any shootings are a bad thing, but four shooting deaths in a year is really not that bad. To wit: there were 40 shootings last weekend in NYC.
since when is a year 9 days long? also, considering the population of all of NYC (around 8 mil) compared to that of the Mission (around 45k), our 4 shootings are pretty significant.
You should probably all just move away. Unless of course you want to be the accidental victim of a drive by. Best to play it safe and go back from whence you came.
.41. That’s how safe I feel in the Mission.
.357. I’m good.
No joke, I dated someone who lived in the Excelsior and bought a shotgun just because he figured if anyone ever broke into his house, he’d just have to do the “CHK-CHK” cocking noise to send the invader running.
I’m a wuss; I would just record that noise and put it on my iPod-enabled clock radio.
Wow, didn’t realize that carrying a gun made you bulletproof. Who knew?
Well, it makes the part the gun covers pretty bulletproof.
The “interim” mayor and his city departments only care about rewarding the rich; reassurances otherwise are just “spin.”
It’s the Willie Brown way.
