Smart move, but he still should’ve locked through the rear triangle.

Our favorite Vietnamese Pop-up restaurant is back, and this time our pals Valerie and Katie are serving up the flavors of Hanoi:
RPS wanted to pay tribute to a few of their favorite (and perhaps lesser-known) Hanoi dishes such as Crab and Shrimp Rice Noodle Soup (Bun Rieu) and Butter Braised Sweet Corn and Dried Shrimp (Bap Xao), a popular street food dish in the area.
We’ll also be serving up Pan-Seared Tumeric Fish with Dill (Cha Ca), which travellers seek out at Cha Ca La Vong, a famous restaurant that only serves this dish. RPS is only serving up a limited number of this dish, so diners should pre-order ahead.
The fun starts tonight at 6:30pm and lasts till 10pm, but you should really get there early to avoid long lines (and catastrophic shoulder injuries). Oh, and where is this happening you ask? Well, you’ll have to follow @ricepapersf if you want to find out the super secret location, which will be announced later today!
See you there!

The first edition of American Tripps went really well. Thanks to everyone that came out and partied! We’re doing it again this Friday, same time, same place, same everything. By 9 or 10 the place was pretty packed, so you might do well to show up on the early side this time around.
RSVP and invite your friends here. And be sure to “like” American Tripps on Facebook so you get timely updates and news and stuff.
Here are some shots of Friday night’s action, courtesy of our own Mike Chino:
Check out the full album here. (Tag your friends, tag yourself.) And scope some crummier pictures at the official American Tripps tumblr if you like.
Now we’ve got beef. I don’t care about the fuck part, but I’m sick of seeing “Mission Mission Blog” everywhere. It’s just “Mission Mission” okay? (At least they didn’t write “MissionMission” though. That’s the worst.)

Not sure exactly how this is gonna work, but our pal Rob behind the bar says he’s working on a collab with a chef from Saison which will result in, yes, chilaquile bloody marys. I can’t wait. Blind Cat (formerly known as Dirty Thieves AKA Treat Street) opens in 30 minutes. Free BBQ too, just like every Monday.

Well, it looks like Godzilla may have come through after all.
This morning around 9:15 a fire hydrant at 20th and Folsom showered El Faro. It has since been fixed.
(thanks, Chris!)
Then a tree came down onto a parked car on Valencia between 19th and 20th.
(thanks, Russell!)
And below, some pics by Rob and his eyewitness account. (which curiously does not mention Godzilla)
“It happened sometime around 11:40… during the scheduled construction at the Mission Playground facility… Somehow, no one was hurt, despite its smashing a parked car and falling into the south bound lane. Construction workers looked pretty pissed and nervous, although, appearing to be just as confused as to what caused it.”
(thanks Rob!)
UPDATE: Just realizing this may have less to do with Godzilla, and more to do with the aliens that crash landed behind Borderlands a few months ago.
