Might this have been a political statement? Neighbors rallying in support of a beloved local watering hole whose lease on life ended a bit abruptly?

Scumbag taggers. Glad to see it is being cleaned up quickly, at least.
Did you guys know it’s a property owner’s responsibility to pay to clean up these messes?
Can’t we punish taggers by forcing them to do the cleanup when they’re caught? it might not save everyone the cost but it would at least get rid of some of it.
The point I was trying to make is that maybe — maybe — this is one case of taggers tagging a building explicitly to cause its property owners trouble. A lot of people are unhappy with the people that own this property.
revenge? really? if someone is over 21 and still tagging, they are retarded.
i never went to ace cafe and maybe it’s a bummer they are gone, i dunno… at least they won’t have any more of those stupid puch scooter rally’s there.
Silly Rabbit (drink mix recipe)
2 oz. Triple Sec
6 oz. Milk
1 medium sized chocolate ice cream scoop
2 tblspn of your favorite breakfast cereal
put in blender or shaker for 30 seconds
add mint leaf for decor, if you want
I wonder if those two in the paint suits are Kink.com employees?
“Hey Dave, quit building that fucking machine and tell Apryl Showerz to cancel her cam show, I have a special job for you two…”
nice
When was the last time Ace was ever packed? If it was a beloved spot, it sure wasn’t shown by the public. It’s not like Zeitgeist has been boarded up.
I went once, mid week at lunchtime and other than the employees, I was the only one in there. The food was pretty good as far as dive places go. Just sad to see another locally owned neighborhood biz go under. I was told Kink.com raised his rent to $40,000 a month to force him out ASAP. It’ll be Kinks bar for public disgrace shoots I’m sure.
Your point being?…
Since you two seem to be mostly in agreement, I’d like to jump in and help you out by highlighting one point where you don’t seem to be in agreement: TC‘s 4th sentence, “Just sad to see another locally owned neighborhood biz go under.” I think that’s his point, Hey_Jagoff.
But, trust me on this, Hey_Jagoff, if on nothing else — this being The Mission, sooner or later, you will say exactly the same thing about some other place.
it will still be locally owned business. just owned by the people across the street.
Did you spend any time at the Ace Cafe?
Every time I see one of these fake stone buildings it makes me laugh. If that place was mine then the first thing i’d do would be to pull off ridiculous stone cladding shit.
That stuff is pretty crappy-looking, but it’s even worse when it’s tagged. Anyone who puts it up should be forcibly deported to Los Angeles, where it is rampant, preferably in a train car decorated with the crucified bodies of taggers.
I wish Ace was open now, I could use a drink.
Thieve’s Tavern, 500 Club, both much more enjoyable bars (real bars, where you can even get a grown-up drink and not come out smelling like food!) are open early and well within walking distance.
Things must have changed at the 500 Club if they’re open at Noon on a weekday — I quit going when they wouldn’t open until 2.
By the way, I do not have a problem with smelling like food — not nohow, not ever — which is why I am a huge supporter of The Sycamore (open at 11:30 weekdays, sshhh…).
A burger and a hard cider would have been nice for lunch. I will be at the 500 after work.
Dearest Allan,
Could you please, pretty please, fix that link for me?
Thanks muchly,
COMG
Anything for you, babe.
I love you so much.
Cranky: Seconded.
This bums me out. Ace had the best juke box! And their blue cheese fries were outta this world.
This throwy is a felony (so determined if said graffiti has a cost related to cleanup of over $300 – yes they exaggerate cost). Forcing “taggers to clean up their mess” is no deterrent is a felony isn’t. These kids are serious about this.
I liked Ace Cafe. They were nice to my dog and a GREAT environment for casual public sketching.
There’s 4 Ace Cafe sketches a little more than half way down this page. All of these are from the Mission.
