That depends on what the aim of the front is. SF has been getting Disneyfied (like so many other cities of culture), and Valencia has been a place out of the financial/social control of Biz for too long. Biz is greedy and wants it all.
To do that, they need prime locations, not the alleys and side streets.
Tease. I’m really curious now – I’ve always found them to be overly nice and friendly, but like everyone else wonder how they could stay open with no business, save me calling in wings when I’m drunk.
I don’t think it’s a front. I think they own the whole building. I don’t know why they seem to dislike having customers though. I do like those halal burgers, and they’re a lot cheaper than BJ or Urbun Burger.
They do make good pizza. They are almost excessively obsequious about taking your order and delivering. There are some bad Yelp reviews talking about covertly gross attitudes having something to do with conservative religion, but those are Yelp reviews anyone could have left and who the hell knows. It’s hard to get good pizza delivery around here.
Nowadays, I suspect it’s pretty much all the bong shops in The Mission. Maybe the phone card stores, too. The marketing sure sounds & looks a lot like Arabs dealing to Latinos, which stinks of money-laundering to me. Have to wonder what’s the deal with all those Al Pacino Scarface posters and T-shirts.
Their wings could not possibly be smaller or more stale. Also, I’m pretty sure they tried to charge me for condiments. May the government agencies that be bring the hammer.
I used to pass by the coffee shop at Church/Duboce every morning, until one day I stopped in and all the family members present immediately stopped talking, turned to me and said, “What?”.
Being from NY, I immediately knew a front when I saw one, called them out on it, and told them if they wanted to be part of the neighborhood try opening for business more than 3 days/month.
They own the building so the restaurant isn’t their main income, the hotel is. They’re always empty because they’re selling drunk food without serving booze, on account of being Muslim. But they do make a tasty pizza.
Nobody is ever in that place and it’s prime real estate on Valencia. No way that place isn’t a front. The pizza is decent though.
Aren’t the two connected? The interiors look really similar…
Ha ha ha!!! Think I know. I eat there all the time!
Front businesses are usually on side streets or alleys, not in prime locations where rent is high.

I know things that i’m too afraid to publicly say about Pizzeria, the wing place, and the hotel above the Pizzeria/wing spot.

Yes, but what is it a front for?
Clean clean cash.
What kind of drugs do they sell and how do i get some ?
It used to be that shoe repair place at 17th and Hoff, but it finally shut down. TOO obvious.
That shoe store on Mission with all the high heels for like $10.
Every Chinese-owned latin-american food produce/grocery store.
