Someone just got shot at Mission & Fair. It happened pretty fast. I was across the street and thought it was a backfire until I saw a guy hopping away being helped by friends. It may have been a drive-by but I’m really not sure.
The good news was the cops were there in under a minute, and a pretty impressive response. Pictures below (sorry they are so light streaky but I had just ordered pupusas).
Nice neighborhood you got there
Hey, thanks! Viva La Lengua!
Goddamn Liminal Zone. I’m pinning this on the bad influence of Bernal.
You’re right! Especially because no one gets shot anywhere else in the city!
It’s an incredible neighborhood, don’t judge by one unfortunate incident.
Yes, please do! Stay away! Don’t come around clogging up my favorite La Lengua restaurants and hangouts, you might get shot or something.
Um, suck it, Marina-dwelling poster? http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2011/06/21/BA1L1K0LCF.DTL&type=newsbayarea
Walked by this scene earlier and wondered what happened. Any confirmation?
I haven’t seen anything yet. But I’m beginning to wonder if the guy shot himself. There was a car beside the group that backed up after the shot – not exactly getaway behavior. Strange.
I heard it at 26/SVN.
I heard that at 25th and Mission. Loud! Must have been a shotgun?
do people from california not shoot guns or something?
yes, guns are loud.
I live in the building at Mission and Fair. Heard a loud gunshot and glass breaking. First gunshot I’ve heard in the 1.5 years I’ve lived there. Immediately after the gunshot I heard a car take off very quickly. Sounded like a drive-by.
Cops showed up almost immediately. Saw a cop interviewing a witness right outside of my window. Went down to check out the scene. Victim was a young latino guy with long hair. He did not look to be seriously injured at all. I saw no blood. I think he may have been shot in the leg.
Woke up this morning and there was no evidence of the crime. Another lovely day in La Lengua!
i was on a 49 and the bus driver was honking repeatedly to try and get through the scene. ha. she turned around and said “with all of this, somebody must have shot somebody dead!”
I was there. Three young, latinos ran by us on the sidewalk heading north on mission toward fair. One of them was holding a wine bottle like a club. They actually looked excited, the guy who eventually got shot was yelling down the street at someone. Everyone on the sidewalk knew something was up.
The guy down the street, in the passenger seat of the car was yelling back. They met up at the red light at fair, got in eachother’s faces then the guy from the car shot the kid in what looked like the stomach, judging by the muzzle flash. Everyone took cover. The car took off immediately.
So stupid. I’d guess they were maybe 18.
Disappointed in myself, though. Couldn’t tell you what kind of car it was. The car that was backing up was behind the shooter car, they were just trying to get out of the scene. Props to the officers who got there so fast.
Thanks for the additional info. The cops were interviewing two young latino guys at the scene. They must have been part of the three man group along with the guy who got shot.
What a bunch of clowns.
OK, that makes sense. I didn’t even notice the shooter car either, I totally got thrown by the car backing up.
I was amazed at how loud the shot was.
People have never heard a gunshot before? They’re loud. It’s not like the movies.
