How is that even though I pass by here almost every day, I only just now noticed this mystical birdman statue? The plaque says it was granted in 2004 in recognition of the original tribe on this land. Really? 2004?
Perhaps whenever I approach I’m too focused on navigating the gauntlet!
Any wikipedia articles? No way to find out more about this camouflaged statue.
Maybe he’s there to scare away the flurry of trash thrown by drivers
Wow. That’s been there a f*ck long time.
i know, right!
Ask the people that live in the bushes along the 101. They exist…out in these parts we call them the “Freeway Folk”. But unlike the Highway 1 Hobos they don’t share their weed with you…
Yea I remember back in the day when you could just cruise around with your bird mask and feather jacket and eat plants and stuff without being hassled. Then all you hipsters showed up with your buildings and freeways and bars and ruined everything.
Dear original tribe of this land,
We got you sick, gave you alcohol, and when you were dead we built a freeway on top of your graves.
Now here’s a weird looking statue to remember you by.
Sincerely,
Bay Area.
Fortunately for me, My forefathers didn’t build that stuff, they where too busy pillaging and drinking a shit load of Rum in the Caribbean.
That’s the Skate Chicken. He makes sure to keep Potrero Del Sol full of those future 30-year-old grandfathers who leave him daily offerings of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos crumbs.
That bird-man is weeping.
FREEBIRD!
was that the obvious joke that i everyone immediately recognized, but no one made. well, joke’s on me then.
Also, to the idiots who pull a u-turn on Cesar Chavez heading eastbound to get onto 101… stay on Cesar and just make the first right. Just as fast, no ticket. And you don’t block people really trying to make a left. Kthx.
My friend and I spotted this guy for the first time a few weeks ago on our way back from BevMo.
