I deserve the tickets because I obey the “no adults unaccompanied by a child” law at the Dolores Park playground (except after dark).
i deserve the tickets because i have the Purple Rain record poster hanging in my bedroom, despite the awful forced perspective and Prince’s raging camel toe. Also, because i saw the Purple Reign cover band in las vegas during the last 2 hours of my 20s… even though most of it was sitting through a terrible Morris Day and the Time tribute.
When I was 14 and our house burned down on Easter Sunday, we went to the home of family friends. The eldest daughter sat me down in front of the TV and popped in a VHS of “Purple Rain.” Later she came by and said, “Is Prince helping?” When I said, “Not really” she was totally offended. (Seriously? Our house just burned down.) Still, I’d like a chance to revisit the alleged healing powers of Prince.
That Prince tribute guy should be doubling-up as a Screamin’ Jay Hawkins tribute guy. If he had a skull on a stick he would have it nailed.

I EARNED this ticket; because the last time that I saw him in concert was at the Oakland Coliseum, and Prince sat in a chair, pouting thru most of the concert.
The couple of times that he deigned to sing he sounded like he was singing from the bottom of latrine; the sound system was THAT bad.
