I’m sort of a vegetarian, so it never occurred to me to throw any bacon into the mix, but I’ll be damned if that doesn’t look like a damn good idea. I bet the bacon helps soak up all the starch?

What’s wrong with being “sort of vegetarian”? It’s not just a PETA issue, you know. A lot of us need to cut our saturated fat intake, because of high cholesterol, but aren’t interested in giving up some beloved food item entirely. Cutting down to “once in a while” is better than not paying attention to what we eat at all.
