or bartender, bar-back, doorman, chef and a dozen other occupations that keep the city going at night so that you can party then while we enjoy the day. Bitter much?
Meh, I don’t know if I buy it. Sure, being a BARTENDER you can make really fucking good money. But those jobs are few, and fucking coveted.
I don’t believe all these well-clothed people with bikes that probably cost a pretty penny are working just a couple shifts a week in the service sector and living in the mission for $600-800 a month and seemingly blowing just as much money at bars as us losers with 9-5s. Something does not compute, but please, if it’s possible tell me so I can quit my stupid fucking job and join them.
I’d put my money on the notion that, a LOT of these folks we see pictured on beautiful sunny weekday afternoons are STUDENTS, with lots of free time and on financial aid/part-part-part-time job/a little help from the family. Seems like every third person I know is one of these. Hell, my fucking GIRLFRIEND is one of these.
You can’t knock that, education that is. At least, it makes me feel a little bit better about my decision to work at a job that sort of numbs my brain but pays well. :-\
Well, I work a couple of night shifts a week and get by pretty well. That being said I am still on the poor end of the spectrum and don’t own a fancy bike or fancy anything for that matter, really. At least I support myself. Never said you are a loser for having a 9-5. Just don’t be bitter about people enjoying a beautiful day because you cannot (and I don’t even mean you, dude, the reply was to Ryan). Just having a job these days is good enough.
man you really have created your own little fantasy world to feel better about yourself, how’s that working out?
since when is a bicycle some sort of status symbol?
people that work in the service sector don’t work ‘a couple of shifts a week’, many of them probably work harder and put in more hours than you, AND some surely make more money than you do. deal with it. rather than getting butthurt at other people having fun, figure out a way to have some of your own.
They’re just a bunch of young”’sters. What’s ah big deal?! When you moved to the city at 20 you just went to school and worked all day long and behaved like a good little christian should, right?
I mean I hope they don’t live in the Mission. I think every student should have to live in the TL for years before they move onto bigger and better things/ Haha, jk.
I get it — it must be a serious bummer to come here and realize that A) you just don’t get it, and B) you’ve wasted your whole life living in a place where you just don’t get it.
I was at work. Is this what they call funemployment?
+1
+ more. Does missionmission pay the rent, do you guys also have jobs? just curious.
pretty oblivious statement in a city with such a huge service sector; just cause you work a shitty 9 to 5 doesn’t mean everyone else does.
Right, I should quit by “shitty 9-5 job” and go work as a bus boy. Sounds like a fabulous plan.
shut the fuck up.

They’re just a bunch of young”’sters. What’s ah big deal?! When you moved to the city at 20 you just went to school and worked all day long and behaved like a good little christian should, right?

As a San Francisco native very little bums me out more than looking at this website.

I don’t think it’s jksfjksfjksf that doesn’t “get it.” GOMG you must be an esthole (google it kids). Typical.
It’s funny because this pic was taken of us at around 6pm when we all decided to meet at the park after work.
