The press release doesn’t explain how exactly this relationship came about, but for some reason Bob Mould has begun DJing regularly at Flour and Water. Here’s the skinny:
Music begins at 5.30pm and will extend throughout the entire evening; Mould will join flour + water in celebration at 9pm. Come and meet the artist!
Bob Mould DJ nights are the first in a series of artist DJ collaborations at flour + water. We have teamed up with NoisePop to bring these exciting DJ nights to you. These evenings are sought to deliver what flour + water does best: pasta, wine and loud music. From Mould’s play list on May 2, look to enjoy a little Ringo DeathStarr, Dum Dum Girls, No Age and Foo Fighters…just to name a few.
No Age AND Foo Fighters?? I thought you had to choose one or the other. I guess Bob Mould knows best.

“Can we hear a little something from Land Speed Record?
that’s a Grant Hart song btw; the idea of Bob Mould playing music in a fru fru expensive restaurant is a pretty weird concept.
actually it’s not a fru fru expensive place– it’s really amazing food at a really good price considering the quality of ingredients, the care, creativity and skill that goes into the preparation. also, the atmosphere is fun and not stuffy, with warm, knowledgeable staff. bob mould chose that place for a reason.
your restaurant is good, but yes, it is expensive. especially relative to the neighborhood, very few people who live in the area can afford to eat there.
You’re confusing your parts of the Mission. Lots of people near that restaurant can afford to eat there.
When I was in college circa 1983, Husker Du played all the time. So much so that it was never an event. Black Flag, Sonic Youth, The Minutemen, Bad Brains, MDC, Big Boys et al, came through rarely. So they were hugely attended. But Husker Du playing all the time, not so much. It’s funny back then I liked them OK, but hardly my favorite. Now, I love them. Land Speed Record is my favorite. Everything Falls Apart just flows on and on. Wheels is such a great song. Gravity is amazing. On you tube there are 4 songs from an SF show back in the day. Check them out.
Mould has been DJing for a long time now at Slims at something called “Blowoff” which seems to occur once every few weeks.
