Here’s what we’re gonna do: Link us in the comments section to your all-time-favorite under-appreciated ’90s alternajams. Whichever five entrants blow our minds the most (either because of epic nostalgia or epic how-the-hell-have-I-never-heard-this-befores) will win pairs of tickets to the big Debaser anniversary party this Friday at 111 Minna. Contest ends Tuesday night at 11:59.
Do it to it!
RSVP and invite your friends here.

New Radicals – You Get What You Give
You can thank the Janebook for that one.
Oh snap–this song is the ultimate! You are WINNING.
Pearl Jam – State of Love and Trust.
It was from the movie Singles (on the soundtrack), but recorded during the Ten sessions. It’s also on the remastered/remixed version of Ten that came out in 2009. It’s a killer song – can’t believe it didn’t make the original cut for Ten.
There’s way better vids of this song on Youtube – but this one is from the old “Pain in the Grass” free shows at the Seattle Center Mural Ampitheater. I grew up going to those shows – would bust ass out of high school on Fridays, face rush hour traffic from the ‘burbs, and see tons of great bands.

We just put this on our new Debaser mix which comes out, like, tomorrow. Hang tight! Great selection!

“this one is on the house…”
Hell yes!
thumbs up.
So much love for this one. I don’t know how we haven’t done this yet!
Yes! A great live band even when all the members are roughly a thousand years old and really drunk.

nothing sounds like the 90s more, but never did you hear of these guys
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ln0VwWvXB50

I will let this speak for itself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JV7XdhwGt3A
We coulda used this LAST week. Hahaha.
Soul Coughing – True Dreams of Wichita
Sounds like being 17 to me.
Ok. This is great. I’ve been trying to get this record for years. Great choice.
My original submission was going to be J Church’s “Yellow, Blue and Green,” but it’s so under-appreciated I couldn’t even find a link to it (I’m sure it’s in your box of old 7 inches, though).
So this is my submission: Sebadoh – License to Confuse
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-XUiIKm2yw&feature=related
Like. Wish I could hear the J Church! Its not on the internet anywhere!
Here you go http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbmJDUtKk84 and here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzggsq1Jx3c
I’m going to cheat and choose two (but I still think that pedro should win for The New Radicals):
The Soup Dragons: “I’m Free” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVGf3ePIO04
EMF: “Unbelievable”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVGf3ePIO04

Ned’s Atomic Dustbin
“Grey Cell Green”

There used to be a real video, no idea why it’s not on youtube.

Nice one. even the video being in SF with a cameo from “bush guy”!
only in it to win it!
this band never really got much attention. this is probably the best/most intense music video to come out of the 90′s though.

Afghan Whigs – Miles Iz Dead
Thanks, Alex! I’ve been trying to figure out what Afghan Whigs to play.
Bay Area punks from the early nineties, Krupted Peasant Farmerz: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiK1B0uBlzk&feature=related
These guys are still playing music from time to time and have helped put out a lot of punk from Santa Cruz and San Jose.
Had to do it. this band IS the 90′s to me. Pavement!

A posthumous entry cause I couldn’t remember the band or song. But I liked this Elastica jam when I was 14
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ie4x8hWYYE
To me, the entire Sonic Youth “Dirty” album is very, very early 90s, and I can remember the lyrics making me feel very acutely aware of myself in a particular time/place: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04fAzuS04R0
So good!
Who’s the big winner(s)? I need to know whether to spend my $5 on a stiff ass drink at the Latin American or save it diligently for Debaser!!!
