Despite how brown it is now, we all know the Mission used to be Irish, so it’s only fitting that you go out tonight and drink some whiskey – or green something — in honor of our neighborhood heritage (because you never drink whiskey — or green something — otherwise, right?).
Here are some places you can find said whiskey on the cheap, as well as some themed specials and maybe some good ole fashioned hooliganry:
Shotwells – serving corned beef sandwiches and no green beer.
The Phoenix - the self proclaimed “hippest Irish bar in the Mission” has Smithwicks, Harp and Guinness on tap, and will probably have some appetizer specials. drink up.
Another Monkey – Cheap drink specials including $4 Jameson shots. Whiskey at a Thai place? It’s true, and there is lots of it.
My advice? Follow the people wearing green and falling over at around 7pm to find the best specials in the neighborhood. They usually know whats up.
Stay hydrated out there, and call a cab to get home (cause they’re free tonight!). Erin Go Bragh, bro.
I don’t drink anymore but I want to know where I can get my Sprite with green food coloring in it.
SPD is the only day that approaches NYE for tragic amateur drinking
seconded. my college had Unofficial st patrick’s day, the friday before the holiday. students regularly showed up to 10 am classes already wasted, and it wasn’t totally uncommon for someone to puke in class. i think it actually was the biggest amateur drinking day in that town.
erika, seriously, when are we making out?
Why is it that on St. Patrick’s day everyone wants to be Irish but on MLK day no one wants to be black?
Gentrification? kekeke
Free cabs! I’m going to see if I can get one to take me all the way to Reno.
