This car should be in an awesome low-key indie movie.
I would’ve rushed over to determine its make and model, but I was eating. Car geeks?
UPDATE: It’s a Corvair. Thanks, FFO. Now, has a Corvair been in an awesome low-key indie movie or what?

Corvair for god’s sake. What deserted island did you blog up on?

plus, here’s a list of films which have included the Corvair in a scene http://www.imcdb.org/vehicles_make-Chevrolet_model-Corvair.html
My grandma used to have a Corvair Monza Spyder convertible.
So your grandmother was a Cougar that drove a Corvair!?!
Unsafe at any speed?
That’s the one.
That was manipulated BS. Those cars are awesome. From wiki: A 1972 safety commission report conducted by Texas A&M University concluded that the 1960-1963 Corvair possessed no greater potential for loss of control than its contemporaries in extreme situations. In the same year, NHTSA concluded that “the 1960-63 Corvair compares favorably with contemporary vehicles used in the tests…the handling and stability performance of the 1960-63 Corvair does not result in an abnormal potential for loss of control or rollover, and it is at least as good as the performance of some contemporary vehicles both foreign and domestic.” Unfortunately the car was already three years out of production at that point. Nader had tanked the company for no good reason.
Well… No. First of all, the Corvair was only one chapter of _Unsafe At Any Speed_. And Nader didn’t come out of nowhere with this, Chevy engineers had blown the whistle about it, and years later former GM execs came out and admitted it had been a bad, even dangerous design.
All of this AFTER GM’s campaign of dirty tricks against Nader in an attempt to discredit him. Seriously, we’re talking Exploding-Cigar-against-Castro level of covert buffoonery.
The whole “THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CORVAIR!” meme is nothing but historical revisionism.
For the record, however? Despite the design flaws of the early Corvair? It was a damn, DAMN sexy car.
Such a great, under rated classic. Rear-engined, rear-wheel drive, solid construction. People will scoff at me for saying this, but it’s every bit as good as Porsche’s from the same era.
You’re totally right. So much fun to drive, and the sound the engine makes when backing up is awesome.
Mark Wahlberg drove one in Fear with Reese Witherspoon.
Indie? No. Low-key? No.
Awesome? Yes.
Damn, at first I thought you were referencing the sweet ’92 GMC 12-passenger van. My one and only band van, now the proud owner of a group of Mariachis. I hope Unique Care is treating you guys as well as it did us, fellas.
Dude, I watched that guy park! In a spot vacated by a little Hyundai. Took literally 10 minutes of inching back and forth. Impressive.
