I know at least two apartments (you know who you are!) that would benefit greatly from this sort of arrangement. The commonly-used doorway bike pile is not a scalable system. It’s designed for quick deposit, not retrieval.

Nice job. However can we just talk for a moment about the absolute absurdity (among many) from planning code chic with respect to the simple front street access to basement conveyance storage — aka the good old fashioned garage?
All the car nazis are trying to eliminate this basic feature without understanding (because they are bug-eyed and clueless) that garages are great for bikes, and the assumption that somehow its a win for cyclists to have to carry their bikes upstairs and hang them on hooks.
It’s not that garages are bad; it’s that a parking space rents for a mere $100 a month or so.
Take two parking spaces, turn them into a “studio apartment”, and now you can rent it out for $1200 a month.

You can get all of those bikes on a rack half the size if you rig up something with sliding hooks and stagger them (front wheel up, rear wheel up, etc.).
I will rent you a spot for $100 a month, on the street in front of my house.
