This Wednesday night Muni Diaries invites you to once again grab a drink and not only listen to other people’s stories of the wackiness that is life on Muni, but to jump up and tell your own!

The evening will be a mix of returning MDL storytellers and opportunities for audience members to take the mic. That story about that time that that stuff happened on Muni? Get up and tell it!

Wednesday, 9/28, at The Elbo Room (647 Valencia St.) – Open mic signup starts at 6:30, show is from 7-9pm. $5 at the door and free drink with admission.

If you think you have what it takes to win some of the raddest trophies ever concocted, stop by The Lab tonight at 8pm to test your skill against the rest of San Francisco’s premier stackers of blocks.  I know everyone in this city is very proficient at forming lines (whether it’s in front of Bi-rite or on a mirror), so expect the competition to be fierce.  Luckily, karaoke-style sign-ups, rad bands, and huge projected game screens guarantee a fun night even for those lacking in Tetris tenacity.

Tomorrow morning, 11:00AM sharp marks the beginning of this year’s 24 Hour Comic Book Day at Mission: Comics & Art. Artists have until Sunday morning to create an original 24-page comic book, without help from any preconceived ideas or storyboards, and the entire process is open to the public. Our very own Ariel Dovas will be participating, so stop by and cheer him on (and maybe bring him some coffee).

Zeitgeist is up for best SF bar in some poll by SFist, by the way. They are up against Smuggler’s Cove, which has fruity tropical drinks and pirate stuff. Fair comparison? Vote for them, if they haven’t already alienated you with their surly demeanor.

The LA Times picked up on the recent gang violence in the Mission and was quick to point out that it is a gentrifying neighborhood. “What a contrast!” they say. Nothing new to you guys if you’ve read any Mission Mission comments, I’m sure. However, if lines like this:

On a recent evening, tattooed youth with yoga mats pushed past lines of workers wiring their day’s wages to relatives in Latin America.

strike you as mind-blowing perspective, then by all means read on.
