Serious writer Jen Gann delivers some important foodie news:

There’s a great hidden gem restaurant in San Francisco’s Mission district (where I live)!

It’s called McDonald’s and it’s right across from the BART station.

DMV Relaxes Custom Plate Guidelines

Damn! I was going to get this plate. Well, I guess the one with a wolf silhouette is still available… but it’s just not the same.

Molly Ringwald Sighting at Delfina

Happy birthday, Plumpy! (Our old pal Plumpy saw M.F. Ringwald yesterday):

So remember when Jane Lynch ate at Delfina Pizzeria a few weeks ago? Well, today Molly Fucking Ringwald was there. Awesome. I was eating with my friend who works there (it’s my birthday, so yes, I totally made my friend eat at her own work) and she confirmed it with the other employees. I didn’t get a photo because I’m not trying to be a creepster, though. So maybe this isn’t solid enough to go on the blog.

Au contraire, mon frere!

The Babies

The Babies are going to be big, you guys. They’re from New York, they’re cute, their music rules, they have a song called “Breakin’ the Law,” and they sing into dirty laundry instead of microphones. I went to Sacramento last night and saw them play in somebody’s garage and it was awesome.

Tonight they’re playing a house show in Oakland, and tomorrow they’re playing at Li Po. This will be like seeing LCD Soundsystem open for !!! at the Independent before anyone had ever heard of them. Now’s your chance!

Plus, look how rad their west coast tour shirt is:

Go see the Babies!

Beretta Margherita With Burrata Best Thing In World

It’s come to my attention that not everyone in the neighborhood is aware that Beretta‘s margherita with burrata is the best thing in the world. In fact, twice yesterday I heard, “What’s burrata?”

Burrata is a fresh Italian cheese, made from mozzarella  and cream. The outer shell is solid mozzarella while the inside contains both mozzarella and cream, giving it an unusual, soft texture. It is usually served fresh, at room temperature. The name “burrata” means “buttered” in Italian.

Damn! So you take that, top it with basil, put it on some perfect tomato sauce and a physics-defying crust, and you have the best thing in the world. Just look at it!

If you haven’t had one, go get one.

P.S. The fava bruschette is back!
