New Jack City San Francisco

Ooh, what’s this? A shop dealing in “vintage and throwback gear from the classic era of hip hop”? At 15th and Guerrero? And they’re having a grand-opening party tomorrow sponsored by Pabst? YES PLEASE, on all counts:

Welcome to the neighborhood, New Jack City!

Their web store isn’t open yet, but they’ve got some pictures of goods up. Goods look HOT.

It looks like … wait for it … another shitty vintage store. Just what the Mission needs: more hipsters who look like they just crawled out of a 15 year hibernation.

just rolled over there and they were already open, got a super nice Polo shirt and a starter jacket, yes an actual 80s starter jacket…OG…oh me…

i was going to make a derisive comment about cultural imperialism but a fucking starter jacket, holy shit! I want to go to there.

  3. AttF says:

naming a store that specializes in the “classic era of hip-hop” after a movie from 1991 seems just a tad on the clueless side.

    • Allan Hough says:

1991 is fucking classic! Geto Boys, Tribe, “Mama Said Knock You Out,” “Summertime,” “O.P.P.” What else do you need?

      • AttF says:

King of Rock/Raising Hell, Paid in Full, License to Ill/Paul’s Boutique, The Message, Straight Outta Compton, Rhyme Pays, 3 Feet High & Rising, It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back…….but yeah, I guess “classic” is a relative term

  4. Please people no more 80′s sweaters in the Mission, I’ll let your cowboy boots go, but those damned sweaters? Don’t want me to jack you.

  5. SergDun says:

Clothes that were ugly the first time around and haven’t gotten any better since combined with terrible beer? It’s like Hipster Mecca!

glad to see that a shop has finally opened in my area and not on the overhyped valencia block.
glad the mission is finally inviting something creative in retail, hella memories coming back here.
