The How, Why And What Of Waiting

Opening tonight, Waiting for Godot plays a two week run at our wacky arts space The Secret Alley. The Off Center and Collective Theater Productions produce this latest interpretation of the ahead-of-its-time Beckett classic by director Wolfgang Wachalovsky. Come see it for laughs, arguments, confusion and more.

The show is Thursday, Friday and Saturday of this weekend and next, all shows at 8pm. Tickets are available at Brown Paper Tickets. The Secret Alley is at 180 Capp St. near 17th.

Mission Bicycle Festival Next Weekend

Mission Bicycle Company is hosting the first ever Mission Bicycle Festival on the weekend of 9/25. The event will feature a ride out to the Tour De Fat in Golden Gate Park, bike demos, and contests.

This may be particularly interesting to you Mission readers: at 1pm on Saturday 9/25 there will be a “10 Mission Secrets Bike Tour”! What kind of secrets, I wonder? The location of that sketchy flea market where you can buy back your stolen bike? That hidden warp zone that takes you to the top of Potrero hill? Guess you’ll just have to sign up for one of the limited spots to find out.

There will also be a track stand competition at 3pm on Sunday 9/26. The prize is a brand new Valencia frame set. So if watching a bunch of riders sit almost perfectly still is your idea of sport, be sure to check that out.

The flyer is here and you can get more info at Mission Bicycle Company. Oh by the way, they are having a sale wrapping up today where you can get up to $180 off a customized and likely effeminately-colored ride. Check out their facebook page for more info.

High Atop the US Bank Building

Telstar Logistics somehow got invited up to the top of the US Bank building at 22nd and Mission, and took a handful of nice shots. Can we have a rave up there now, please?

Sex Ed for Adults

Tonight at Gravel & Gold, the first in a series of sex talks by the shop’s resident sexpert Nile Nash. Tonight’s talk is about anatomy and contraception, the next one will be about pregnancy, and the last one will teach you how to bang good. I’m looking forward to that one.

The event appears to be free, and includes refreshments. Details here.

Cars On Fire In Garfield Square

More carson! Nick Fisher was on the scene last night.

Car FIre

“The fire somehow turned on the horn and headlights which were both blasting for the duration.”

Car FIre

“[The firemen] are trying to get the hood off to put out the fire still burning under there. Eventually they sawed it off.”

Just a week and a half since  2 cars on 18th Street were torched in a row. Still not cool, bro.

UPDATE: Thanks to actual journalism, The SF Appeal gets the official story so far:

[A]ccording to SFPD spokesperson Sgt. Michael Andraychak, the arson task force has determined that the fire was accidental in nature, and is not believed to be connected to last week’s intentionally set fires.

Andraychak, who says he spoke directly with arson investigators, confirms Talmadge’s report that the fire began in one car, then spread to the second. God, sucks for the second guy, doesn’t it? Best of luck to all in dealing with that insurance claim.

Hanging on by belt loops

Three friends are riding three bikes but then one of the bikes gets a flat and no one thought to bring along a pump.  What do they do next?

Anyone have a better idea?
