Photographer and bike advocate Sean this morning snapped this shot of a platoon of buses in one of the newish protected bike lanes on Market. Hopefully this is just a good-natured case of a gang of Muni officials getting blitzed on the Fourth and deciding to prank the cycling community — and not something more sinister.
Of course, just four days ago we saw a federal official wedge a motor vehicle in there. And there are always plenty of charter buses clogging the lane.
Anyway, happy Monday!
(Sean hipped us to this item via our Facebook page btw. Thanks, Sean!)
Yes! Anytime anyone even looks at a bike lane snap a picture of it! No, better yet. Vandalize it like you do during critical mass. The San Francisco bicycle martyr’s brigade shall avenge all traffic violations that affect it’s ride through the city. While, of course still running red lights and hitting people on the side walks. Only the bike lane rules are sacred!
There are five or six buses parked in the bike lane. I also post when there’s < a href="/2010/03/31/house-vs-thunderbird-the-house-always-loses/" rel="nofollow">a car parked on the sidewalk, or when there’s < a href="/2008/11/05/celebration/" rel="nofollow">a gang of pedestrians in the middle of the street. All of these things are noteworthy.
Has anyone heard any news reports recently or even in the last few years about pedestrians getting injured by cyclists? do these things happen or are these dangers the hypothesis of blog addicts? why would anyone who’s not a cyclist be so vested in the use of the bike lane?
If you have to ask, then you’re not paying attention. But if you feel like doing some research, here’s one place to start: http://www.anticyclist.com/ (Or try Google)
